roadkill: c-notch looks great, i wished i had done instead of my weenie notch
flip kit looks good too. did you use a third gen rearend? look at my build for how i kept the torque bar not sure that your cab hold down straps are dot approved though

I haven't finished it yet. Too many distractions: wifes car, mowing, vacation, mowing, wifes car, mowing, 97 gmc, mowing, wifes car, mowing, sprinkler system issues, mowing, shop cleaning, mowing. Did I mention mowing? One more out of state trip then I can finish the notch and the sway bar mounting. Found a muncie 4 speed complete with bell housing, clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and hurst competition plus shifter. It came out of an early corvette a friend had. My brother gave me an aluminum drive shaft. Not sure if I can use it. |

This is not my truck.
This is my wife's Monte Carlo SS (the second one I bought for her). It has 200k miles on it and needed a little work. First new intake gaskets, and a waterpump. |

Wife still not happy with car. She say's "It dies the middle of the road".
I told her not to drive in the middle of the road. Check fuel pump pressure and find it isn't what it shoud be. Rule #1 on fuel injection: always check fuel pressure before replacing any parts. After dropping fuel tank I had to kill the mandatory black widow and spray brake clean on the eggs. The car seems to run better with the new fuel pump. After I get it smogged on Monday I should be able to get back to work on my truck! |

Tractor Interruptus
My tractor was dripping gas from the fuel valve on the bottom of the fuel tank.
This won't take long to fix. I thought I had stripped the threads when tightening the fuel valve. All of the tin has to be removed to get the fuel tank off. It took a whole day to get the tin off. Everything had been untouched since 1959. Once I got the tank off I discovered the threads were not stripped. One of the bolts was a little smaller than the other one (I said bad things). I decided that it would be a good time to replace the cracked exhaust manifold, replace the radiator hoses, and paint all of the tin. I noticed some dirt stuck in the radiator and attempted to remove it. When I got some of the dirt out the radiator started leaking (I said more bad things). Tried to repair the radiator but it was so old that I made it worse (I said bad things again). New radiator is ordered, primer and paint purchased. With a little luck I might finish in a week or two. Then I can get back to the truck. |

I'm learning to be patient working on the tractor.
Since I'm going to paint this I might as well take that off and paint it. Three broken bolts out of four and I'm going backwards. Broke an easy out off in the damn thing. Then I remembered my old friend fire. A little heat on the area around the bolt and it comes right out. Converted my sandblaster to a soda blaster with a few parts from Hose & Fittings (Parker) and Home Depot. Clogs up after a while because I didn't have a good dryer on my compressor. After a trip to Graingers and a 4 stage dryer I can soda blast till I run out of soda without any clogging. Decided to hook up the gas to my welder and use solid wire so I can weld up some cracks on the fenders and heat shield. I filled a few small holes as well. I get to practice on my tractor instead of my truck! I hope to be painting by the weekend. |

Making some progress on the tractor.
I have found that I hate the EPA and all tree huggers! Yes I am a hater! Paint I bought two years ago (Omni epoxy primer) is now illegal in Sacramento and Placer counties to name a few. I had to drive about an hour each way to another county to get some (PPg) epoxy primer ($35.00 a quart). Why? Because the the approved epoxy primer is $75.00 a quart. It sucks not being able to get epoxy primer local.
A lot of guys like the stuff from SPI. I think they'll ship it anywhere. Kim |

I have heard good things about SPI. Next paint project I will check them out.
The two year old epoxy primer mixed up easier than the feather fill primer I just bought. I guess they sell the old stock to the rookies. I followed their instructions (8oz paint 1/8oz catalyst) with the catalyst and almost lost my primer gun because it started to harden too fast. Next batch I only used 10 drops of catalyst. I'm learning the hard way. Almost finished with the tractor Then it's back to the truck after a good shop cleaning. |

I'm tired of painting. I'm tired of working on this tractor. I'm tired.
Got the gauges in the dash. Need to wire the headlights and work (rear) light. Need to wire the ignition switch and gauge lights. I sprayed the hood sides this morning and had some paint left over so I sprayed the rims. Need to paint the hubs red. As soon as everything under the dash is finished I can bolt on the hood sides, gas hood, and grill, and then the bumper. THEN I CAN GET BACK TO THE TRUCK!!!!! |

I can't find two hose clamps for the air cleaner. It's a miracle that I'm only missing two things.
Need to add some oil to the air cleaner and do some paint touch up and I'm calling this done. Oh and the headlights and rear work light. Here is a before and after pic. |

The tractor is finished and I have already gotten it dirty. Now I can get back on the truck!
I finished the step notch and boxed the frame. Still need to fab some sway bar mounts on the frame. The rain should go away soon and I can finish whats left on the rear.
