Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Who makes the tank and why is it returnless? Are you running FI or carb?

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Bought the tank from LMC. The fuel pump itself is returnless ( Holley retrofit module ) some friends of mine at a shop recommended the pump. That is what they use on most of their builds, just seems to be less hassle I guess. I'm running a 4150 style intake with injectors and a throttle body

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Finished assembling the fuel tank yesterday and installed it into the Suburban. Today will probably concentrate on plumbing the intake and running the fuel line. Hopefully in a couple of weekends the wiring will be complete as well and the motor will be ready to fire up for the first time

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Getting closer to start up. Radiator support , radiator, and some plumbing completed. Waiting on some odds and end parts to come in so the motor and trans can be buttoned up and I can move on to the wiring

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Been working on the wiring for the Suburban (when time permits) I have the 3D analog digital dash from Intelletronix put together and powered up the lights with a 9 volt battery. should be a nice piece once it is installed in the dash itself

This is a killer build you've done some great work with the sheet metal. Makes me dread cutting into mine.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
Last week while on vacation the Suburban touched the ground for the first time in almost 10 months. Got to drive it for the first time. Runs and rides great! This week I'm just trying to wrap up a few minor things and Friday morning we are off to Good Guys in Columbus OH.

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
The trip to Good guys in Columbus was great ! Bad news is when I got home the trans was leaking and had to be pulled out and sent back to the shop. Turns out that the bushing behind the converter chipped off somehow and got so hot it welded itself to the snout of the converter and had to be removed with a puller. The shop installed a new pump, bushing, and converter. Installed the trans last Friday and all is well. Shifts good and NO LEAKS. Now I'm ready to go to the Rockabilly Ruckus this Saturday !! Hopefully the new build bugs are out of it for good (fingers crossed lol)

Re: New project : 72 Suburban
I'm not sure if I saw it, but why the change to the Dakota Digital dash? I think it looks good (I actually added one to my project truck), but didn't know if the Intellitronix dash you initially installed gave you issues?
