I'm back, 3 years was too long, Back with 65 shop truck
Hopefully you guys will have me back. Some of you I still stay in contact with and others I have have not talked to since 2010. I sold My old bagged Pabst Short stepper due to a divorce in July of 2010. Well after sinking to an all time low I am back up on my feet and built a few cars in the last few years. After paying off the bills, Jack, who many of you know here as chevytrucknut, is helping a brother out.
I reached out to him a few weeks back and said I have cash and want a 60-66 again. He replied by telling me he had a cool old traditional style shop truck he was building and he put my name on it. Here is what he stated with. 1968 longbed half ton. It was an old farm truck that was beat to hell. BUT, it had a strong 327, th400 and power steering. It drove like a dream. He junked the body, took her down to the frame. He went shopping up in the Columbia Gorge here in Oregon and found a complete 1965 body. The body came off a 4x4 farm truck that was used as a Hay truck for its entire life. The 65 had very little rust and was complete.. It has it fair share of dents and dings, but he saw a cool pataina'd shop truck that would fit perfect on that 68 frame. We are in the beginning steps of the build. Although we will have it as a daily driver in about a month. He Freshened up the paint on the entire frame, added a bolt in c-notch, tj springs, adjustable panhard, rear air shocks, 2 inch lowering blocks, cut 1 coil up front, new drop shocks etc. The wheels are original Chrome reverse 6 luggers he has had for over 20 years.. He has been waiting for a perfect project.. New thin whites, all new wiring harness is going in, will have full gauge cluster etc. I am putting full new interior this winter. But for now we will have a complete slammed, beautifully running, full pinstripped shop truck. I hope you guys will like this build and will have me back in the family.. Any ideas are welcome. I am doing this whole build on downer parts and hand me downs. I am looking for stock mirrors, and rear bumper, and little knicknacks.. if you have ideas or want to see some cool parts on her.. HOLLA.. Pics to follow..
