Re: does it bother anyone
If someone said that about my truck and I was standing there I would just say.. Yea it is a pos but it is my pos.
On a differnt note. I think the first show I did with my truck was Pacific Coast Dream Machines here in Half Moon Bay. It was nice that people checked it out but what really put a grin/smile on my face is when one guy grabbed his kid and knelt down in front of it for a picture. That was over 10 years ago and I remeber it like yesterday.

Re: does it bother anyone
Everyone has great comments and i agree completely, my problem is usually my short temper which has gotten me into lots of trouble... good thing I usually have my wife and son with me and keep my "monster" in check...
important thing is you, your family, and your friends know how much blood/sweat/tears and of course $$ you have pumped into YOUR passion. The fun to me is cruising around in it, of course the burnouts are great too!!! keep taking 'em out... i will see anyone in the area in OC, MD weekend of May 17th in MY POS!!!!! WAGZ

Re: does it bother anyone
Me personally, I dont care how much $ is spent, how much time was spent or the fit and finish really, what I do care about is hearing you (or others) speak of your passion!
How much you love it and are involved in it. I always enjoy talking to guys and gals who have done different things with their cars/trucks, just to learn the reason and understand the passion. I like your truck, period. It is the best ______ ( fill in the blank)! keep up the good work brother and keep us informed of what you have planned in the future! I for one would love to hear about it!

Re: does it bother anyone
I get the same comments, just ask what they are driving, when they start telling me their BS I just walk away as they are talking. Here is another one, does anyone find people leaning on their truck while talking to someone. Really pisses me off, just cause it ain't shiny doesn't mean it's a pos, it doesn't belong to you, keep off. It's a respect thing !
I sometimes take my 56 Chevy hardtop to shows or cruises, what the hell are people thinking when they have to open the tail light to show their friends where the fuel filler is ? They can't ask ? Best experience with that car, a older couple were looking my car over, I asked if they had any questions. The women said the car they dated in had the dome lights in the rear pillars. I told them that all 4 door hardtops had the dome light in the ceiling. I looked at the gentleman and he just said, don't look at me, I was always face down !!!! Re: does it bother anyone
I won a plaque at an annual show where they only give out 50 "best ______". The show is followed by a midnight cruise and while cruising a nice custom pulled up and asked what my truck had his car didn't. I held up the plaque.

Allot of good advise in this thread, I wouldn't give it another thought anyone that negative was abused and whipped in there formative years and not a fellow gear-head, they were not meant to be happy. My Dad use to say opinions are like a-holes everybody's got one...Vernski

Re: does it bother anyone
When I had my Vette at the T-Hills show (nothing special at all) I didn't hear much from anyone. But an 8 year old Timmy came up to me and said "This is my favorite car here, it looks so fast!" and it made my whole weekend.
The only reason it was in the show was because someone saw me parking it in the lot and offered to pay my fee if I parked it inside. RIP Marceline...

Re: does it bother anyone
These guys probably have a "trailer queen", if anything at all. I've had the same thing said around my 65 Sub, which, like you, I drive, not trailer. Let 'em say what they want. I take great pride in mine even though it's got rust coming through, and chips all over.

Re: does it bother anyone
I get the "how did you do that" crowd. Will this fit. Sat with old "wrench" thumbing the "buyers" from my tailgate. I can say I had a hand in every aspect of my build. Seems the drivers are out more than trailer queens. Looks like the trucks are taking over.

Re: does it bother anyone
LOL at that douche. 95% of all car guys I have met have been really helpful and cool and supportive of each other no matter what stage they are at in their build. Having a project just gets you more respect from most of us, because we have all been there, or are currently there in a build, and we know what kind of hard work you will have to put in and the joy that comes from it. I have met a small percentage of people who walk around like they are entitled to the finer things in life because they are 20-25 years old and they have their parents money to pour into their new BMW, lol don't worry about these kids. They don't know what they are talking about. Your truck is cool and we all know it. DON'T sell it or you will totally regret it for a long time and eventually buy another one anyway!

Re: does it bother anyone
My truck looks like a total pile up close, you see the waves down the side the paint chipping from years of 5 different paint jobs
That's why my pics are taken from far away lol Posted via Mobile Device

Re: does it bother anyone
The appreciation for these old trucks is growing every day. Personally I get crushed anytime someone says they don't like Cecilia, but I'm short tempered and things bother me that shouldn't. I usually shoot back something harsh about their ancestry but truth be told it does sting.
That's just how it is, even when you're driving those fancy corvettes etc. Someone will always think you don't belong because you have the wrong paint or lug nuts. Remember how many thumbs up you see on the highway or kudos you get from those on the board here. When you hear idiots like that you just gotta say to yourself "There goes a very small person." Then shoot them in the rear as they go buy. Justifiable homicide.
