Hey all! Thanks for the comments and call to make sure I'm alive and kick'in. Been a bit I know. I'm still here and have made a bit of progress. I will update you all tomorrow when I have some more time. Till then.......

Forgot my camera yesterday to post an update. I filled in the fresh air intake on the passenger side outer cowl as I plan on running a VA setup. Which one, I don't know yet. Door gaps were OK but spent hours and hours getting them better. A bit more work and they should be almost perfect. I have a bit more done on fixing the gaps since that picture below was taken.







Below is the crap inner to outer cowl piece. I had to cut and weld it multiple times to get it to fit the way I wanted it to fit.






More of the inner to outer cowl panel. I made some pieces with my new bead roller to match up with the beads on the inner cowl panel. They matched up close before..........NOT!










All welded up and epoxy primed. Ready for a final coating before it gets covered up never to be seen again for another 60 yrs.

Ya I didn't think the cab was that bad but it was fun doing the repairs. She's all new now!

Did some smoothing on the outer cowl to firewall tonight and put the hood on for a test fit. Gonna do the passenger side tomorrow.













Hood fitted like I have read in the past. Fits better without the spring hinge but figured out a way to get it much better with the spring hinge. Loosen the main hinge, lift the hood up high and hold while someone tightens the bolts from inside the cab. Works so far. Rubber seal will determine final fit. Will still need more tweaking but now I know it will be close when final fit comes.

Looking good, you are much more ambitious then I. If I do another one, first step will be a trip to AZ or CA to visit some members from here and pick up a rust free one to start, I am so over body work for now. but getting older and will probably forget how painful it was.....

Cab looks great. I like the "gills" deleted on the cowl that's the way mine will be.

Thanks all! I noticed last night that I still have to weld the three braces to the floor on the back panel. What if anything should I be putting in between the braces and rear panel? I don't think there should be metal to metal contact.

same black card board looking material that is under the gas tank. to keep it from rubbing on the floor. Sorry don't know the name of it. Almost looks like thin rubber roofing material to me.

Thanks sharp. There wasn't too much of anything left under my tank or on the back panel when I tore it apart. I appeared to be a thick tar paper like matting.

Maybe just some fatmat or some other brand of sound deadener. Any chance I can get your dimensions for your front crossmember?

I have to do a bit of metal repair on the lower drivers windshield area where the rubber seal goes. I got the old rusted area cut out and started making the repair patch last night. The shape came out really good. That's as far as I got. I should be able to final fit it and get it tacked in tonight.

Need some help people. Would someone mind posting a close up picture of their windshield installed so I can see how much the rubber covers the opening on the outside. Reason I ask is I have some pitting on the outside lip that can be seen on the last few pictures posted above. I'm debating new metal but my sheet metal skills may not be up to the task.

Another thing I need all your opinions on. Should I fill in the pop up vent? Wondering if this will prevent me from installing a VA system.

Not all W/S gaskets are the same size, but close enough for your app.
If you drive with the windows down that vent in the open position will equalize the air flow, you will like it !

Thanks solidaxel. I plan on ordering Steele window seals as I hear they fit and work the best. I'm 80% on filling the upper cowl vent in. Unless others convince me to leave it. Don't want any leaks. I do like driving with the windows down. Not a big AC guy. Like to have AC but only use it when it's way hot out.

I have installed power vent motors from RockyHinge Co on all my AD's and a very simple addition, The cowl vent cuts down a lot of wind buffeting with the windows down at speed
