Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Well over the weekend I figured out where and how to mount up the peddles. Turned out really nice, I will defiantly use the this kit again. I also got the mustang steering column installed. Now to take apart weld and paint.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Well the peddles are painted and installed, made some foot pads that thread on. Gas peddle is hooked up. You can also see how I mounted the M_stang steering column, when the steering shaft finally shows up yesterday!? it will go above the headers to the s10 box. The cooling fan/shroud are mounted it's a Derale 2400 cfm unit and today I got the AC condenser/dryer sitting in place.

Very clean looking, and I still like that radiator/fan/shroud a lot.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
I installed the under dash ac/heater vents and got the under dash ac system mounted. Wiring has started now that all the hard parts are in place I had to move the fuse panel a bit from where the kit wanted it to clear the clutch pedal. Also got the heater core plumbed in.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Probably the most complicated rad support, but it works good. Here is how the steering shaft worked out using the M_$tang column.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
That steering column turned out very well. It looks a lot nicer than having an S10 unit in the cab (I know, cuz I have one and it is seriously ugly!). A few quick questions:
-What year Mustang is the column out of? -What firewall pass-thru did you use for it? |

I have no idea what year column it is came with the truck. Fire wall pass through is just a rubber grommet, if I find it flexes whenever I get the tires I was going to use a 1" pillow block bolted to the fire wall. But tight so far. Ya I'm wondering the same

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Fender and box modification has started. The owner did not want as fat of a rear fender. I'm cutting the fender width down 3", then making my own mounting flange and making the box 6" wider. It's all just mocked up for now till the tires show up then I will fine tune the box width.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Also been working on more wiring, but I did get the block that bolts to the back of the ac compressor. So then I got the hoses trimmed up ready for crimping.
If anyone is looking for a cheap driveshaft, this one you can buy pre made (Amazon)

hmmmmm... widen the box , that is an interesting mod. that I have not seen before. I enjoy seeing the ideas that you all have.
I look forward to seeing this when done, Thanks for the pics, and the workmanship looks 'top shelf'

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
NICE!! someone else to share ideas with! i've intended to leave the rear fenders as-is and widen the bed until they cover the dual's.
are you making a header plate, gap filler, or going to seam 2 together? tailgate? i've been planning at this point to buy 2 headers and 2 tailgates, none with logo, to cut and seam together. |

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Very nice work. I was involved with making a bed wider on a 53 1.5 ton bed many years ago. It was more work than the owner thought but it fit that truck a lot better IMO.
