I do not know what year your vette rear is, but mine was a 96, with the original vette wheels on it, the inside sidewall of the tires are about even with the
inside of the bed angle strip. i would post a pic, but i am not that smart |

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
I bought the same filter adapter that deve uses on his spun on filter kits. Here is his web site that explains everything you need to know to go to a spin on filter. http://devestechnet.com/Home/FullFlowOil
I made my own oriface and then had to figure out where to put it. On mine there is a couple holes on the front left side of the bell houseing so i made the bracket to bolt to those holes and drilled and tapped the bracket to bolt the filter adapter to. Took me a few tries to get the lines bent to fit good and look good. |

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Back to the fan issue today. I cut and rewelded theradiator mounts and moved it forward as far as i could right next to the core support, have about a match book cover clearance now. Still cant use the shroud and electric fan together, it wont clear the water pump on the 235. I have seen pics of the electric fan mounted right on the core of the radiator, does that work? Looks like they used some zippy tie type deal through the fins. Anybody with experience please let me know what your thoughts are.

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Dumb question / suggestion time - Could you mill down the front of the water pump shaft? Looks as if you could take 1/8 - 1/4 inch off of it, create the clearance you need and still have enough shaft for the pulley to ride on.

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
I would shorten the links, because unless your going to autocross it or drag race it. The sway bar shouldn't move more than an 1"-1 1/2" under semi hard driving!

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Have thought of that, would need very thin bolt heads to go with sawing the pump shaft off short and then its still a maybe to get more than a few thou clearance, need to do more measureing and see if I can do it.

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Decided to make a set of mini wheel tubs to solve the sway bar issue and get an extra 1 1/2" of tire clearance on the inside, should help with wheel and tire selection in the end. Started with a 10" trailer fender, split it down the middle and started makeing flanges on the inside to mount them to the side wall and made some pieces for the sides. I need to get them to a bead roller so I can stiffen the sides like the original bed wall. Thought about using the cut outs for the side walls on the tubs and still may, depends on how they look when i get them cut out.

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Really nice work going on here SVR...
Thinking and sleeping on it helps a lot... I find myself just wanting to "Get 'R Done" and then I make mistakes and live with them. So take your time and it will work out well. Good luck on the build - and Enjoy! Couple ideas you may have seen on my build 1. your radiator - you can mount the electric fan on the front of the radiator and blow through, works the same. I did 2 fans on the front of mine with the little tye wrap dealios. works great! 2. Home Depot sells the "5/16-18 Flange Bolts" for ALL your front clip parts. They just dont stock very many at a time, so start buying ahead of time to stock up. 3. With jacking up your motor and trans - check your pinion angle to the rear end... dont ask how I know this.... 4. Hydroboost - Wilwood sells a remote res kit, also you can get AN fittings that go into your booster and the P/S pump and run AN lines if you like that setup better. I got all the AN to JIC fittings on ebay.

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
what about a dual fan set up so the motors are not in the same place as the water pump shaft?
I know, different shroud and more work required, but may work? |

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
Thanks for thoughts and compliments guys. I have the fan mounted on the inside with no shroud, the more i look at it the less i like it. Am thinking of "investing"in 2 11" fans and makeing a shroud to mount them in a stagered fashion on the inside, that way all tubes will get fan air instead of only the 16" circle in the middle. Have been collecting flange head bolts for a while now, should have plenty as long as i dont misplace them. Have the bed just about all primed and assembled for the last time i hope, bought a rolled pan for the rear but didnt like the way it fit so modified the license plate area so i didnt have to cut into the rear cross sill. Will set it aside now and continue to blow the rest apart and finish up some welding on the frame so i can paint it and start final assembly. I like the idea of the an fittings on the steering and brake conections, will do that, thanks guys

Re: 57 Short Box 235 5sp C4
It came time to blow it apart finish the welding and start the paint and finish fase. I painted the frame with just good old rustoleum black satin, have already had to make some minor changes and repaint spots and i'm sure there will be more as i go, will be driver class not show class.

As far as brake plumbing, you guys with c4 stuff have any pics of how you mounted your brake hoses at the calipers? Not getting the vision at the moment.
