Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
Long tube pics. '70 using dirty dingo sliders.
One of the pipes is too tight against the bellhousing on the passenger side (I may "clearance" the pipe for a better fit). I think there may be an issue with one of the plug wires as well on the passenger side (based on the plug vs header pipe angle) but need to check again. Here they are compared to the Doug Thorley Tri-Y's (my other option). The DT is a far better built header (at a far higher price) but my engine may like long tubes better (as indicated by some dyno work). Ideally I need a long tube tri-y (4:2:1) but can't find one that I know for sure will fit. All the other pics - Bellhousing clearance issue (T-56 transmission). It very nearly touches. No issues on drivers side. Ground clearance is better than I expected.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
I ordered a set of long tubes for my 67 and received them today. They look pretty nice. I need some info on v bands, I guess? I've always had 3 bolt flanges so I'm not sure what I need to bolt my exhaust pipe to headers.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
The collectors are slip fit. Since slip fit sucks, I welded a set of V-bands on mine.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
Photo dump of my Speed Engineering 1-7/8" long tubes:
Driver's side: Passenger side: The starter / O2 sensor wiring is tight as hell on the passenger side. At the very least I need to undo some of the terminals on the starter and re-orient the ring terminals. Definitely going to add some heat shielding over here. Underneath: The collectors aim pretty squarely at the trans crossmember. The exhaust shop is going to have to fab up a jog down here - the previous setup just had long downpipes that brought the whole system to below-frame level. Clearance to the oil pressure sender is close but nothing to worry about. I need to finish getting them installed (need new header bolts, ordered a set of studs for it) but I'm extremely happy with these for the money. They fit way better than the fourthgen shorty headers I've been running.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'd share some information. My build is a '70 K10 with 5.3L LM7 (see my build thread below). I was planning to use the Doug Thorley TRI-Y headers (THY-324Y-C), but they hit the firewall and won't work.
I decided to use the Speed Engineering model 25-1021. The short-to-mid length header. I was considering their long tube headers, but their website specifically states they do not fit 4WD. I didn't want to chance it. I fit up the headers and so far they look good. I'm happy with the choice because I'll have to custom fit the exhaust around the transfer case cross member anyway. If I went with long tubes, I believe they would have come down lower and pointed directly at the cross member and it may have been more difficult to pipe around. The one thing I just decided to do was to have them ceramic coated. The price of these headers is so low that the ceramic coating will cost more then I paid for the headers. IMO I don't care for the look of stainless headers after they've been on for a while and discolor. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid that with the ceramic coating. I'll keep you posted on that. The Doug Thorley TRI-Y headers (THY-324Y-C) hit the firewall and won't work. This high pipe out of the Thorley headers hits on the passenger side firewall. The headers below it are for my '71 C10 project. These are the Speed Engineering headers I'm using. Fit up is pretty good on both sides. Sent them both out for ceramic coating. I'll update this upon their return.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
Wish these were available in 1 7/8" primaries.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
Agreed. I think with 1-5/8 primaries they'll be OK for my stock 5.3 LM7 swap.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
As a follow up, I just received my Speed Engineering headers back from having them ceramic coated. Inside of primaries and collector ends are fully coated.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
Those are sweet man. I DEI wrapped my long tube S.E. headers but I will eventually get them coated like this.

Re: Anyone using Speed Engineering Headers???
Those look super nice! Still a bit cautious of using them for my overdriven and slightly modded LSA.
