Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
I built a wooden stand with which I can turn the car to its side. I tried to wash the bottom a bit but still need to wash better. This position makes it easier to weld, paint and massage the bottom of the car.

Very clever. I bet it was a little scary the first time you tipped it over.

Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
It was pretty scary to turn for the first time, but luckily my brother came to help and things went well.

That rotisserie is very cool. You have it built so that it can't turn over more than ninety degrees which is great. I would never have thought to make my own.

Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
Thank you Russell Ashley! I have liked this rotisserie because I don't have to be afraid that the car will fall on me. I have started welding the bottom of the car.

Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
It's been a long time since I last posted pictures because I've been pretty lazy with this car. Now I have to hurry to get this in driving condition for next summer. Here are some pictures of what I have done.

Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
The engine bay is now painted. My friend painted it on Monday. I like the color tone (Diamantschwarz metallic) and that it is now finally painted.

It won't be long before the fun begins. That is bolting on parts that will stay on the car.

Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
I still have to weld the rest of the bottom (back) and prime and install the SIKA 529AT. After that I can put the parts in place. Then the fun can begin.

Here are two pictures of the bottom. Not much visible mark, but there are many small repair points.

Yesterday the car was turned back the right way. Now I was able to start fixing the rear parts.

Re: BMW 325i 1989 restoration
Hi Ilkka, I was thinking about your projects and was glad to find this again. I was not on the website for about a year. You have made great progress and the car is looking good. What are you using to make the replacement pieces? They are very precise.

Thanks a lot Tempest67! I have been satisfied with the rotisserie, it is sturdy and does not take up much space.

I use normal sheet metal and basic tools and anything what I can find in my garage. I have a Dremel multi tool and I like it a lot. I don't have any fancy tools, for example an English wheel, a bordering machnine.
