Re: 68' Chevy c10
finally painted the block/heads. still have to do oil pan, water neck, brackets etc... the last pic without camera flash looks closest to true color.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Nice progress. That looks really good. Is it the duplicolor engine paint or something else? Orange or red-orange chevy color?

Re: 68' Chevy c10
cool, that's what I have to use on mine. Combined with extreme temp black for the ram horns and will match the valve covers and brackets in black.

I said in the post w/engine pics that the last pic shows true color better. not so, it looks closer to the pic of the block. I used all duplicolor, primer, chevy orange, and high temp clear.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
The prep is what made the difference....then having primer and the clear...definitely looks better than a lot of the spray bomb jobs I've seen!
I was going to run without the clear, but seeing it made me decide to add it on.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Yeah, the clear adds more depth to the color, plus the added protection.
heres some more parts.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Those parts look great! Mine won't be quite as nice in my current truck because I'm not going to pull the engine. Probably will take off the carb and detail it and take off the accessories and do new belts and paint the brackets separate, but the block and intake and oil pan will all be together....

Re: 68' Chevy c10
I would paint it all together to if I was'nt taking the motor out or apart. it will still look really good. like you said VA72C10 it all in the prep. y'all know the drill, clean, clean, clean. tape off or cover what does'nt get paint, and it'll look 10 times better.
I got a couple pic of the motor being built.

Re: 68' Chevy c10

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Looks good. So do you blast them yourself or have somewhere you take them?
Have you seen n2billet's engine? I'm going to mimic mine roughly after his..... what are your plans for valve covers and air cleaner?

Re: 68' Chevy c10
If it's the mesh top style with the gray foam insert the definitely can....
...if it's a standard style element with a triangular lid and base then it'll be fine...

Re: 68' Chevy c10
yep...I've seen it happen before...in my 80Z28....thankfully I was working on the carb settings at that moment and had a rag I threw on top and put it out...I quickly took the filter off and put the factory air cleaner back on until I had the cash to buy another air cleaner...
