Re: Most Rare 67-72 Truck Parts

Actually 69 inners are more rare....because what they make now are 70's actually....just with 69 style paint (they have the raised portion) I have one of each grille....I actually bought a truck today with a perfect outer and 70 inner grille...trying to decide whether to run it or convert to a 67-68 front end or just a 72 grille, hood, and support/hood latch (I have some of each)

Re: Most Rare 67-72 Truck Parts

there is an army guard base, air guard base, and a naval air station in my town, they all had fleets of the trucks that were all auctioned off and for whatever reason all of their trucks had spotlights on the roofs and it seems like a good bit of these trucks are still around here...i see them all the time around here

Re: Most Rare 67-72 Truck Parts

There was an emblem for '67 and '68 GMC's with the 351E V-6 that read 'V6 Magnum Power'. It was not the same one that was used on the larger trucks. Not all 351 trucks had the emblem (mine did not), and it could have been dealer installed. One of the guys on Jolly's V-6 page had a photo of a truck with the emblems on it.

GMC named the 351 and larger V-6's 'Magnum' when they came out with the large port/valve heads in 1966. That was a year before Dodge started using the Magnum name.

I have to have that! I was thinking of using one of the bigger trucks but to have something technically correct would be too cool.

Re: Most Rare 67-72 Truck Parts

One general observation that is rare (compared to today's trucks) is how many extremely plain Jane trucks will have no power brakes, power steering, etc. but will have an option like speed warning in a plain dash cluster.

One custom option that is common...expanda foam in cab corners...guess that keeps cold air from blowing in the rust holes...and answers the question...what do I do when I have part of a can left over after a house maintenance project.

I think that was a pre 67 option and only a portion of the 60-66 years. Way cool though.

True, those came prior to '67 and the exact year escapes me at the moment ('65 IIRC). It wasn't an option at all. In fact,no trucks left the factory with those. There was a rocker assembly recall and GMC installed those to mark the trucks that received service under the recall.
