Re: Ol Blue

Got my burb in the Goodguys show this weekend. Had some nice neighbors. Even got to check out the truck that I got the ideas for my seats out in person. It was a great weekend for a show. It was cool to check out some of the rides from other members. Even almost ended up selling my ride.

NICE 'Burban! Everything you've done has made it better. Jealous of your Dino's attendance. Someday...

Re: Ol Blue

I did not give up on this. Life has just been in the way a bit. I will try and get some pic's up this weekend. I got the 3rd row seat from oilyrag80's burb that he is making a 4 door out of. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=557019 <-- check it out! I have been beating my head on the wall working out ideas for a sound system. I want to keep it out of sight so I think I will be making boxes for under the seats and running a Ipod off a amp so I can leave the stock radio in place.

Re: Ol Blue

Got my old white sub sold so I helped move it with my home made tow rig. Kinda sad I didn't get to finish that one. It's going to a good home and the new owner is a member. I have some money to put into Blue. I have a bit more room to play.

Re: Ol Blue

I hate to say it but my Sub had been on the back burner. With the heat and my working on my short bed not much has been done. I have parts on the way and should be back at it soon. I will be doing some A/C improvements!

Get to it! Looking forward to seeing more....

Also, I know it's been a while but is there any chance you snapped another pic or two of that black Suburban above?

I has been so nice to just drive and not have it taken apart. The Black sub is a memeber but that was taken at the good guys show.

Re: Ol Blue

Not bad looking and works great. It's going to take some time to get used to all te controls but it is great to have some music. I have been working the best place for the rest of the system. I think when I get my rear A/C unit mounted I might try to mount something next to it. On that note my blower stopped working in the under dash unit. I have not looking into more then just to check for power and ground. This might be the motivation I need to look into a vintage air system.

Re: Ol Blue

I got all my stuff from crutchfield, I had a bunch of points that I wanted to use up. I'm still testing out where I will end up leaving the boxes. At this point they are just behind the 2nd seat facing up. I have installed 4 Retro sound units so it only took me about 2 hours with the dash speakers. They are a bit tricky if you have never done one. If you take the face plate out and test fit it in the dash and mark out where the shafts are centered it will save you some time. Over all I find them to be about the best units I have had that looks some what stock. I will be making a small box for under the 3rd row seat to add a bit more sound. I have also been thinking about mounting something next to the rear A/C unit if I ever get in gear on that project.

Re: Ol Blue

So I got home with a little time to work on my Suburban and had my new 6x9's at my door. I had some paint that I got for my firewall and wanted to try out and see if it was a match so I shot the grills. I like it. I was thinking it might look a bit cheese ball but I think when I get the boxes done it will look right at home under the 3rd seat.

I have only taken a few trips with them back there and they have been staying put. I think the covers on the boxes make a type of Velcro with the wood floor. This is only a temp setup till I can get my 3rd seat done.

Re: Ol Blue

Started to look into mounting the 3rd row seat. Looks like I will need to drill out holes for it. I only found one of the steel plates under the floor. Looks like the other ones fell out. I will have to fab up something. I want to get this all taken care of and take it down and have it done up like the others. Not much of a update.

Re: Ol Blue

thanks for posting Zellway, and also thanks for putting up a nice review of our radio on Crutchfield. FYI, did you want to have the face come forward out in the dash? you may want to move it back by pushing the brackets further back. You mentioned that you haven't gotten around the color changing mode, here's a step by step video on this topic on how to select and change your colors! link: http://youtu.be/c9a_IEGN_Js Here's a link to show what it would look like when you "flushed" the face --Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2fi6w52i3w...ash%20Shot.jpg Take care, Michael (mrobbins@retrosoundusa.com)

Thanks for the info. I tested the look flush and spaced out and I just liked the look of it this way. I have had some time to play with it and I love it. I have the Model one in my short bed. I think this will be the radio I install in all my rides.

Thanks. It's nice to have one I can drive. I do think air ride might be the next step.

Re: Ol Blue

AZ might be good on the metal but the rubber is a different story. I had a set of vent windows from a different project so I installed the new seals in them to make the job on the suburban a snap. Took about 3 hours for both doors and I had a bit of dynomat I have been kicking around so it got installed also. Still have to get the rear windows seals.
