Re: US Tom

It wasn't bad I had to grind the welds down more. I kept blocking through and hitting the top of the welds.

Re: US Tom

All the panels have primer on them and have been blocked on atleast once. Im about done with the second round of blocking on the bed with 220 grit then ill re prime and wet sand with 400. The cab will be ready once I grind all the por-15 out of the jams and rockers. Yes grind not sand

Re: US Tom

Working with Kyle has been a ton of fun. We are exchanging a lot of ideas, he's teaching me a lot about paint and what's involved in making different things work, especially what can be done with satin vs bc/cc.

My initial thought was to do a shop truck in a Texaco theme. I had an uncle that was a station owner, and I worked for a few Texaco stations as a teenager. Here's a design I worked up.

Turns out this was way more work and more cost than I want to invest in the truck right now, so now it's going a different direction. Single color and I'm still trying to figure out what content to put in it since I need to sell it. I've got 4 trucks - 2 71's and 2 72's - and I need to get that down to one, maybe 2.

Kyle sent this pic, and this is where we're headed..

Not too sure about the white cab roof yet. Stay tuned.

Is that one in the foreground mine?

I have the hood for sure, hopefully two of each side of door to choose from by this weekend. Still waiting to hear from my "suppliers".

I swear, I never thought I'd see the day where a painter had to wait on me. This is incredible.

Looks real good Kyle, but I need to get that thing lowered or get some Z71 stickers for it.

The black truck could be yours Yeah I've thought about pulling the springs out to get it at more of an eye level, that way I don't need a ladder..

I've got two people that say they have doors they want to sell, but can't get them to meet up with the goods. You have a source?

Re: US Tom

Finally got a reply from one of the people today. He's bringing 4 doors, and I'm going to buy all of them if they are decent. The 72 Super SBC I have needs a set, but it most likely will get the ones that came off Tom. And of course, Ol Yeller needs a set too.

Anyway, another trip to Kyle's shop tomorrow to deliver doors and a hood. I hope they are worth the effort..

This is light speed I'm telling you, and he's not taking shortcuts either. Lucked out and picked up a set of doors today that are actually in pretty good shape. Also brought the hood that came with Ol Yeller which was a pretty dry California fugitive.

Kyle says he expects to be applying paint around Wednesday. I can't wait to see it because it looks real good in primer.
