Re: k5 66
Update.....
Build has been interrupted momentarilly by Deer Season and bad weather. Sunday....we got the engine tuned and its purrin like a kitten! I still have issues with adapting the aftermarket speedo up to the tranny, gettin the bumpers mounted, brake light switch and a few other odds and ends. Biggest problem will be geetin some type of alarm and keyless lockin system on it. My son spent several hunert dollars on a stereo system and I dont want it gettin jacked in the school parkin lot.

Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They crushed my parts truck at the salvage yard! All I needed to finish are the windshield wipers and a door stop. Guess I can order them.

Re: k5 66
As it sits today....
If you look real close where the old gas filler hole was, I temporarily used a Hoffman 2-1/2" conduit hole plug, to seal the hole. Mite look good enuff to leave permanent after I get it painted. Got the taillite holes laid out for the back bumper. Personally, I dont think the rear tail lites are brite enuff for a 16 year old kid, while driven around at nite, so I am putting recessed oval LED's in it. The bed has a diamond plate floor, with the fuel tank and battery in it, so I decided to cover it up with a deck. I bought some gray outdoor carpet to cover it when I am finished. The deck will also have the gas cap mounted in the front driver side corner. It outta be stout enuff to hold about 6 Varsity Cheerleaders on it after a game! Got the tach mounbted and workin. Still have a rats nest under the dash. I will get that all cleaned up oncet I get a new speedo cable connected.

Re: k5 66
I like the shorter wheelbases too! I've shrunk my 2wd '65 sub to 103" wb. Someday it might resemble the earlier sketch in blue and white. It's a work in progress but take a peek.

Re: k5 66
^ can someone photoshop out the motorcycle in those sub pics?
Joey-- great idea with the led lights I have driven over a block with the left blinker on , only to have the a** behind me honk, as soon as I got a chance I checked if it was working, it was. The "modern driver" dosent see/care about tail lights unless he has to avert his eyes because they are so bright. |

Re: k5 66
great truck!!! after being a 16 year old with a big 4x4 you might want to make 2 of those bumper holes for bright back up lights (unless running into/over a friends civic is a good time)

Re: k5 66
The rear axle on the 77 K5 seems to be quite a bit narrower than the front. Does anybody know if a pick-up rear end is wider for those year models?
