Re: Project "Mid Life Crisis Low Rider Burb"

i would have skipped the c-notch and kept it 3/4 ton. but the body work is beautiful and so is the paint job. maybe i should have you restore my 72 burb in a few years. my truck looks like yours did (but with a lot less rust). what did you do with the tripod mirrors? i'll take them off your hands if you still have them. i need something better than sport mirrors for trailer towing (and the simple act of backing up, parallel parking, etc). you aren't too far away too. any chance you get up this way for car shows? there is a vintage truck show in barrington nh every fall and also one at owls head transportation museum in mid july as well as bonny eagle car this coming sunday (may 16th) in buxton. you will have to bring your truck up this way some time!

Re: Project "Mid Life Crisis Low Rider Burb"

Looking good George!

Followed your advice and am checking this thread out..... it looks like the TBI gas tank doesn't hang too low at all, I can't see it at all in the recent shots. Do the lower rear quarters hang lower than the tank, or is it actually possible to see the tank peeking out? Does it seem like there will be any interferences with the tank and the ground when you finally lay it out?

I'll do some more searching, but what was the secret to centering the rear axle? It doesn't look like you modifield the trailing arms, so I'm guessing that you moved the crossmember/front hanger back an inch or two??

Re: Project "Mid Life Crisis Low Rider Burb"

I am going to get my burb today so Ill see how the heght of the tank is to the 1/4s, I dont remember off hand. I flipped the trailing arm brackets to the carrier beam and put 1/2 inch plates between to center the wheels. I copied somebody elses thread for that info and it worked out. I cant remember whos at the moment but Ill give them cudos later.

Re: Project "Mid Life Crisis Low Rider Burb"

Lookin' sharp!

If you can get a nice side profile shot to show the gas tank relative to the rear quarterpanels I'd appreciate it.... still trying to figure out a gas tank solution for my own '72.

Thanks.

I Love the paint! I have a question though, why did you route your serpentine belt that way? I have the same brackets on my stock 91 and it looked odd to me so I checked and this is how the diagram shows on my truck.

Its boating season here in CT so I have been working on the boat and weekends we are out on it so no progress. I will be starting to assemble it next week I am hoping.

I was too lazy to walk out to my 89 burb and look at the diagram so I just guessed at the routing. Thanks for the correct routing pic, I will change that.

I did get my 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton conversion drop spindles from ECE after a 5 month wait so I will be getting rid of those huge 8 lug rims.
