Progress!!!

Well i finally got my truck pulled out of the back yard and got it to the garage. The truck has sat for two years so there was some wires that had got eaten! Fixed those new set of plug wires they were eaten to. Threw a battery in and crossed my fingers. NUTHIN! UGH. Go back and check some connections and prime fuel to the carb. Second try she fired like she was never parked! Only real problem was the new edelbrock carb i got is leaking like a bottomless bucket. I don't know about you guys but it sure feels good to accomplish things!

Re: Progress!!!

Well no pics but i was stressing over tires and the carb and out of the blue a buddy of mine calls and tells me he has a present for me! Head over to his house and in the driveway is 4 almost new 235/75/15s and a new edelbrock 1406 carb sitting there! I tell him i got no money and he says no worries. Makes you appreciate real friends even more! Going to swap the tires on to the stock rims this weekend now i am just trying to figure out what color to paint them????
I am thinking some sort of obnoxious shade of green. The kind of color that smacks your eyeballs!

NoCal born and bred but now in SoCal - your not alone down here!
I'm in Alhambra now but headin towards the Inland Empire in April.....

As all have said you are off to a great start!!

Question - I am bout to swap out the q-jet carb on my pre 86sb with the 1405. Prob I am havin is the orig trottle linkage rod is bout 3/8 in diameter. The mount hole on the 1405 is 1/2" in dia. Did you run into this? If so what did you do to make this work? I did not see any "adapters" from Edelbrock.
Can ya possibly post a clear pic of your 1406 carb and linkage?

Much Thanks!

Hell, Im in the same County as you (technically) Just at the other end! LOL SD county is like the size of New Jersey aint it. My buddy lives down your way in Crest.
My truck should be on the road again early January - Ill let you know next time I come down that way and we can hook up maybe/

Check out CPP f you havent they have a bolt in Cnotch deal thats pretty inexpensive and easy as sh1t to do but you only really need to if your dropping more than 5 inch (maybe I missed this in your thread)

Re: Progress!!!

Can you use the chevy sending unit in that tank? Ford uses a different resistance on their sending units don't they? I'd sure like to use one of those tanks if I could slip in a sending unit and have my stock gauge work.

Re: Progress!!!

I'm starting to wonder. Trucks parked out in the weeds is it a requirement for them to be full of tires and other stuff? Mine came full of tires and a parts truck I might be able to snatch a few things off of is well full of tires and aluminum siding.

Congrats on getting it on the road too. Sorry for Rambling. hahaha
