Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Well I did not have much luck this year. I did get this buck, but the blazer was at home, opted for the jeep instead. I will see if I have any hunting out of my 72 blazer... Also have 2nd season tags comming up. Camper is getting loaded and dropped off tomorrow. I have a cow tag, my wife has a bull and cow tag...
My first archery deer this year in WY. I had the jeep, but normally would have had my 72 blazer... ![]() My wife last winter one a late rabbit hunt. Pretty good creek crossing: ![]() Checking traps with the wife and daughter... Or maybe we were setting, can't remember... ![]() My wife 7 months pregnant trying to get in... We were yote hunting in WY: ![]()

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Weather forecast is looking better than last year. Looking like dry and mild. low 20's at night, 50's during the day. I am still taking all the rain gear after last year's experience.

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Nice photo tribute to these great old trucks. They fit in everywhere and can do it all. I love'em!
I didn't have my truck in the background but wanted to contribute. (l to r) A buddy from work, my son and I on a hog hunt. I'll include my truck next time. ![]() Last edited by Bert W; 10-20-2011 at 10:20 AM. |

This was taken in 2005 just before Brutis underwent his transformation. I'll always remember this time because I had just met what would become my wife.

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Here are some pics of my grandfather with a turkey that he killed. The pic on the left is about 1986 by his 78 that I still have now. The pic on the right is March 1974. In the background is his 71 shortbed that he bought new. I don't have that truck but I saw that truck still driving around my town about 2 years ago, but I still have not been able to find it. But I will...

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Here are a couple of pics from this season. The weather started out nice and warm. Then we saw a little fall dusting. Murphy's '71 performed excellent. I think she prefers 9" of snow and mud over pavement.
Unfortunately, we did not bag an animal. It was not for a lack of trying, I can say that.

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
If you live within a three or four hour drive to elk hunt, and you have all the gear, how much does the actual weekend cost?
Let's say you went camping for 3-4 days. What's the expected expense? I'm trying to figure what a hobby or sport such as a weekend hunting for elk might cost. And then I'm comparing that to our hobby of fixing up a classic truck. For example; If I have $2500 into my truck, and I can only get $1500, did I really lose money? Yes, it cost me money, but it's a hobby. Something I enjoy; like going hunting - which also costs me money. I may go all weekend and get nothing. So all I have from the trip was a good time out doors. And I would think many are fine with that.

Re: Hunting Photos With a Classic Chevy
Like the commercial says "Priceless". Sitting around the fire (It got down to about 2 degrees that night) BS'ing about the day, drinking a 12 pack and being with friends; sure beats a day at the office. Yes, the toys for boys are expensive. Most entertainment is. Supposedly, it gets less expensive each year. I own most of the equipment (NOW) and Gertie (My '71) is running pretty well. She needs a paint job, but she is a working off road queen. I love when guys ask me, "Did you drive that back here?" Well, I sure didn't carry it. Will I do it again this year, "Yep!"
So, Here's to the "Fall Classic" and making a statement while driving an old classic while hunting. May you fill your tags, but if you don't just enjoy the outdoors and life. |
