so then it was time to put on my Big Boy Pants and deploy some gentle persuasion, with the supporting X liberated from the radiator support we can move forward
so following some good advice I am going to try running my electric fan in push formation, never done it before so we is a learning as we go |

Looking good. Have you hooked up power to the fan now that its moved to make sure it's pushing through the rad. Once you do that then I would think your all set and problem solved.

thanks, not yet, I need to flip the blades first, and I am concerned about that fan shroud maybe blocking too much air flow when I'm driving, we shall see, aint gonna fix it until I confirm it to be a problem

pusher fans dont push the cfm as pullers for some reason, but mine was tight

so we started to put water in and we had a leak, well after torquing the lower radiator hose down to 880 foot pounds we learned the source of the drippage was the water pump weeping hole

with the water pump replaced it was time to move on to making the steel braided AN fitted automagic transmission cooler lines
I use FRAGOLA AN fittings and this Vincos line both off of Amazonia |

so got everything buttoned up all the fluids in, and she won't start, barely turns over, so I go and replace the 2017 battery with a new one and same thing
I did turn her over by hand when I first took delivery and it seemed normal it did spin over half a dozen times, I poured oil down the jugs, I squirted WD-40, etc. got this smaller battery than the prior Group 24 cause it needs to fit in the side pocket with the Camaro subframe eating up some of the free space |

well so I move on to something else, time to weld up some hockey exhaust from parts left over, I like to have my exhaust exit at least past the rear axle to keep the splitting drone headaches down to a minimum
man the driver side was a bear, had to weld the whole thing on my back under the truck as this one would not come out as one piece like the passenger side did, now I could have removed the transmission crossmember and that would have freed it up, but I was not going to undo more things for me to redo Last edited by Gregski; 05-03-2020 at 07:56 AM. |

pull the plugs and see how it cranks. could be full of liquid and liquids dont compress well, could be full of dripping gas from a bad carb float, or could be ignition timing fighting. any of those things, pulling the plugs will show.

thanks bud, took out the sparkulators, dropped the starter and tested it on the garage floor Captain Morgan style with my remote starter - tested good, removed the belt and spun her over 7 times by hand - wth

after sitting in my thinking chair having a beer I decided to yank the valve train in hopes that would loosen her up a bit

So I'll admit it the HEI distributor was 180 degrees off but that wouldn't explain the slugish spinning around.
Anyway with the gracious help of Pontiac Mike and his TDC Thumb we spun the dizzy around proper and adjusted the valves using the Simple Method by BinderRod of H.A.M.B. like I've been doing successfully for years TECH - A SIMPLE WAY TO ADJUST VALVES |

for your water pump issues, by the posts with pics, I would say move the engine back and some of the issues will cure themselves.
for the engine, i would say a gasket set is pretty cheap, take it apart and see what you have. deglaze and throw in a set of rings and brgs if you see fit. get the numbers off the cam etc as well for future reference. for the starter issues, if you have a good starter on the bench then the problem will likely be power AND GROUND supply. ensure good cable size and clean solid connections at both ends. do a voltage drop check if really curious but start with the connections and go from there. |

Looking at your front mounted fan set up I would suggest removing the shroud as you will be blocking flow while moving down the road.

I removed the shroud from around my fan as well to get as much air flow as possible through it.
As a suggestion.....I put the same shifter in my truck. I will be removing it and replacing it with a Lokar or American Shifter setup. The unimatic shifter is garbage. At times when moving through the gears you can slip past gears unless you really pay attention and move it slowly through each gear. Im replacing it because I want something that clicks hard into each gear so I know what gear I'm in. Just my two bits. Here is a video for adjustment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znw6HaTzDpY |
