Re: My last hoorah...1972 K20 Cheyenne Super frame off

I used Skyjacker 2.5 softride in front and used a 2" block in the rear... If you don't mind spending more money Alcan Spring is the way to go..just ordered a set for my K5 but the springs are about $1200 shipped but are by far the best ride.

Bottom of cab painted but I think it's a little light needs to be a little darker
Compared to the other k20 that I sold.

Looks nice. The color is a bit different. Could it be lighting?

Great progress on the truck, bottom of cab looks really good. Do you do the phosphate treatment yourself? If so is it a kit you bought somewhere?

Great and thank you I will check them out. Been wanting to do this on a few of the builds. I will need to give this a shot. Again thanks and keep up the great progress. Jim

Nice job on the black heat stove/exhaust manifold sheet metal. Black is the correct finish....I think. The 80 mile 70 being the best reference I've seen. I have never seen an NOS example or period color media that would corroborate or refute it...

...beautiful work in general on a great truck. Looking forward to more pics.

I think your right. Man it's going to be a pain to correct that on the Arkansas K10. I h

I’m using a kit from Casswell, it doesn’t require boiling and it’s a simple dip and rinse, then dip in an oil/solvent sealer. Super happy with it, identical to original finish, and very durable.

Re: My last hoorah...1972 K20 Cheyenne Super frame off

I'm following a Porsche build on YouTube...and the guy did all his own plating (varying finishes) with Caswell's stuff. And it looks fantastic. I have considered it myself...at least for certain finishes.

Here's a link if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTup...02PUxw&index=2

A lot of good restoration techniques in this video build series beyond this particular episode. I'm always partial to the 'owner in the garage' builds.

Your paint looks great! Here's some original (and dusty) paint for comparison. I think you're spot on.
