The biggest issue with making a plate is that the top of the carb is exactly flush with the hood, as you can see in the pic above. So I may not be able to make any type of seal unless some one has some ideas??

Use copious amounts of foam? My dad ran this setup on his Camaro. Now mind you, this was for dry weather. When it rained he took this off, and put a plug over the hood scoop to keep things dry. Funny day came when he got caught in an unexpected storm and could only throw the scoop plug on. The BBC was sealed so good to the hood that when he got on the throttle it would suck the hood down
Not sure if this is the setup he ran with during that storm, this is back in the day when he 1st droped the 396 in, in highschool.
