Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
She officially has the accelerator hooked up. Hopefully I will take a short drive around the block in the next couple weeks. Just found what looks like a rear freeze plug leaking. Gonna try to get that fixed this weekend. Then off to the muffler shop, then home for some wiring and assembly while the bed gets bodywork and paint.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
She finally came back home for a little stay this past weekend. May have to do a little house project this comming weekend, then time to start doing some wiring/dash/gauge/door assembly. I will try to get a few pics soon.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Gotta love any blue color. I like the darker colors better myself, but after seeing some lighter blues on other threads, I'm ready to do a 2 tone paint job.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Finally made some progress on the truck. Worked on some wiring today. We made up a new harness for the alt, temp sender for the fans, a/c compressor, and electric choke. Ran them down the front of the motor to keep things clean. Just need to finish up the fan relay and fuel pump relay under the dash for now.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Finally some progress
Got the exhaust hooked up. Used the Magnaflow x pipe, up pipes to mufflers, and mufflers. The headders make it impossible to use their inlets, and the 4/6drop kept the taillpipes from working, but I am planning on using some stainless turndowns anyway. Also got the front end roughly aligned. And I replaced the NEW rubber tie rod dust boots that had split while the truck sat at the body shop with some red poly ones. I also got my nasty trans leak fixed (pan gasket) Few steps closer anyway.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Thanks for the compliments all.
Pls keep encouraging me. Especially you guys who finally endured all the way to the finished project. Tell me it is worth it in the end. The last couple weeks have really gotten to me. March marked the 7th year since I bought the first truck that started this project. Here recently I have gotten very discouraged. Seems like all I do is wait and spend money, wait and spend money. And I still can't drive it. I am talking to the bodyman about getting the bed ready/painted/and installed. At that point when it finally looks like a truck again, I hope to get the motivation to get the wiring done, lighting done, and bumpers and trim on. The interior will be next, and wheels/tires last. There are days I wish I had the money I have spent in the bank. Other days I wish I had my other dream vehicle in the garage instead. 2002 Ram Air Trans Am. Anyway, anybody out there say its worth the time/money/frustration, when you are finally done, driving down the road and going to shows?

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
You could try to get enough together to drive it sooner and do finish work later. This summer was the first time for me to have mine undriveable for any significant time. I'm trying to do a good job putting it back together, but I will run it as soon as enough parts are together for it to happen. That's my motivation.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
i will let you know now, it is worht the wait and time and money, once it is all done you will look back and say wow that was quick and look at what i i have done, you will forget about the money and the rest. trust me, mine was done once and i am doing it again. i finish customer cars all the time and when they see he end result it is priceless, even with all of my frustration in their car. Customers are what make my day.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Update. Finally getting motivated again. Hooked up with the body man Sat. The plan is to get the bed up on sawhorses this coming sat. and get a new front panel and one bed side on. Then body work and prep for paint. If all goes well, I may be ready for final paint and assembly in about a month. Now if I just don't run out of cash and can stay full steam ahead, maybe I can be driving this year. Interior will be last, but I have a lot of the parts I will need and have been working on getting my cluster done. (I added a thread about it, sunpro tach, and stock face on elect oil psi and voltmenter.)
Pics to come next weekend.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Finally some progress!!!!!!!
Got the bed up on sawhorses where it can be worked on. Removed the front panel and the damaged left bed side. Should be primed and ready for paint in a few weeks if all goes well. Will try to get better pics as it moves along.

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
I know you're frustrated (read the thread you started) but this is an awesome looking, very high quality truck build. Nice subtle mods to the truck and nice parts. It will be a reliable, fun, good looking head turner when completed. Keep at it. Look at HuggerCST who just finished after 10 years!

Re: BP68 Official Build Thread
Please don't quit now!!! I too lust after a 2002 WS6 Trans Am (6 spd of course!!), but I wouldn't trade one for my '69 shortstepper!! I've just begun my own tear down/restoration and looking at your pics inspired me! Keep up the good work and just take a step back for a while. That truck will be all you hoped for when you are finished - it looks to be a showstopper!
