Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Met my daughter at the Riverside airport cafe for lunch today. Drove my pickup for the first long drive after the clutch refresh and trans rebuild. The new valve covers are fantastic, the engine is dry as a bone underneath. I had no idea the old chrome ones were leaking so much. I thought it was the rear main seal puking out all the oil! On the way back up Arlington Ave, a truck that I didn't see was coming down the hill and revved his engine at me. I got a glimpse of his truck in my rearview mirror, I think it was a lowered yellow and tan 69-76 chevy truck. Engine sounded like it was way bad! Maybe it was someone on this board? Fun day!

The chrome was still good, but the paint was faded.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
This thread seams to have died compared to threads 1 and 2. What happened?
This was a great thread and I looked for it first when I logged on. Did the thread move somewhere else? I know that I am not a great contributor, nor did I learn to post pictures, but I use you to continue on with my 57 swb. So bring me up to date please. |

my56Chevytruck,
I didn't put anything around the edge of the headliner, just tucked it under the lip between the two panels!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I researched the ability to add about 3 more hours into the day to make days equal 27 hours so i could find time to work on the truck, but the whole space/time thing keeps putting a wrinkle into things...probably for the best anyway as i'm sure work would figure out a way to make me work more.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Finally got the windshield installed. In 77 I had a new one put in by a windwhield buy guy moonlighting. I remember him really having to beat it in. At the time he said it was a tight fit. Lesson learned is to pay attention to the bead weld, I think that mine is a little "fat" into the opening at the top and it was catching the gasket, even using the rope trick. After applying heat with a hair dryer and a lot of whacking, it got past the interference point and the top dropped in and the bottom corners settled. Now I can button up the interior and get the front clip installed.
