stay away from a guy named Rod and a shop called Performance Parts Machine out in Peidmont, he will take you money and leave you hanging

I will give them a shout. I drove by the engine builder that is down the street and no one was home.

Unless your dead set on it being a 383, before you buy anything, I'd get quotes for everything that you are going to need to get it done. Sounds like your in need of a rotating assembly, heads, cam, rockers, machine work, gaskets, etc. etc. My guess is $2,000 minimum for what you are trying to do, but like another mentioned he has around $4,000 into it. And that sounds actually pretty reasonable for a decent rebuilt 383. So, after you get your quotes, go check Jegs and see what some of their complete motors run. You could get a really decent motor with a warranty, and not have to do anything to it other than drop it in. .... I know that many guys want the pride of knowing they built their motor, but I'd look into it.

Yeah its more about the time spent building this truck with my daughter than the money. I have spent more money on a pink snap on tool box and tools for my daughter than I have on the truck.

The shop I think I am going to use is Brand engines
