Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

So once both boxes were off and sitting on dollies we guessed how long it would take :
So from the time we measured the boxes.....cut all 4 sides inners and outers......swapped them out and had them "tacked" them in place was less then 2 hours

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

i just read the whole thread and have to say this truck is gonna be awesome!! you said something about painting it green and white then you got the bedsides from a green and white truck, thats funny!! i know what you mean about bondo, i had 1/4" - 3/4" bondo on the back corners of the bed on my truck and some spots up to an inch on the tailgate before hammered it out and cut it out!! i love the prostreet and pro tour looking trucks!! good job man keep it up!!

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Thanks for reading it all and giving me some feed back....everyone

Today's questions :

Trying to decide what to do with the tailgate .....considering blanking it out and putting a mural on it, but i really like the stock look too. I was thinking about leaving the chains on the tailgate for looks but weld them to make them look like they work and open but they move with the gate. Then put a remote lock on the inside for function. The way my fuel cell sits in the back and the way the floor in the box is all... bead rolled, once it's painted I can't see anything going back in there.

Then I need a 4" cowl hood....should i put a fiberglass one on a hood ?...I found a steel cowl piece we could put on.......but maybe we should make a cowl for the hood that has the factory lines in it ...use a old hood cut it out of the center graph it onto a good hood or bead roll it in?....I guess we could even bead roll in some flames or something.....

So many questions so many choices....any ideas or thoughts ?

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

i like the factory v in the hoods!! i have a old hood i'm gonna cut up to make a cowl hood i'm only gonna go with a 2in.-2.5in. cowl but real wide like 3ft. something like the mustangs! i think it would fit the hood lines better then the z28 cowl! i've seen one with the factory v in the hood in classic truck mag. looks real nice, can't remember what issue i'll have to look!!

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

I have to go 4" to get air to pass through the hood area and get the big block to let a little heat out. I haven't seen a cowl with the lines in it but i think it would look good.....but you never know until you actually get to see what it looks like....but the more i think about it...the more i like the idea....I would love to see the picture if you find it

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Okay well

I know you all want picture updates but here is the new schedule..

- The tranny is completed they just called and it's ready to go ...Trans brake set up is all good to go .....just need to get the right torque converter.

-Engine will be ready to go for next week.....
-Front end is out and been reblasted....
-Frame has been blasted again
-Tossed the cab " groans " and had to take one of my other big back window cabs and send it for mock up
- it's all in a big pile sitting and waiting for mock up "again" so we can set the ride height up...we have a plan to use a air set up to make it drop down after thats completed I will send the frame and all the pieces out for powder coating.
Once we get some powder coating completed I will start posting some more pictures...

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

I love me a good pro-street build. Signing up for the adventure. I just had my first trip into Canada a month or so ago, went into Victoria by way of ferry from Seattle. Spent a couple days there, and I was actually suprised to see quite a bit more Classics on the road there than most places I go here in the US.....any idea why? Either way, I'm looking forward to a chance to go back into BC and have more time to look around, maybe by way of Vancouver this time. Cool build so far bud.

Hey thanks

I have never gone the ferry from seattle to victoria but heard it's nice. I have gone the vancouver to victoria ferry many times....For the amount of time it rains here we have a awsome car culture here, and if your here when it's sunny everyone drives what sits in the garage. So my guess is you hit a sunny day that everyone was waiting for.....lol

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Should have more pictures soon.....

Changed plans slightly, and after looking at the way the truck sits have decided to drop the body down another 3" on the chassis. It's not going to lay rocker or anything like that but it should sit down about 3" off the ground. The rear tires at that point are only a couple inches below the top of the box. So i plan to look around and see what ideas I can come up with to finish off the inside of the box today.....If I were to do this build again would i ever rethink some of the choices i have made so far.
