Re: Iced Green dream

not much of an update. I have managed to do a few things to the truck in the last few months. I was able to install a few motor parts and headers. I plan on running my exhaust soon and mounting my cab back on the frame. I went to the swap meet last month and picked up a new tilt column and a rust free core support.

Last night I picked up a donor truck in the valley. The truck is a 70 custom cab long bed 1/2 ton. It has ac cab with no rust, tach, tilt, buddy buckets. I am going to be parting this truck out. I will post some photos Saturday. I will also post some picks in the parts for sale section. I am going to keep the cab, the tailgate, bed headboard and the ralley wheels. Still up in the air about the seats, I'm going to have to see how much of my money I can get back out of the truck without selling them. The truck has everything else but does not run. If anyone is in need of a specific part let me know.

Re: Iced Green dream

I'm excited to report I got a second parts truck this week. My Dad has been negotiating for a 1972 that is in pieces. He called me yesterday and told me the good news that he got it and we should be able to pick it up next week. The truck is a 1972 short bed fleet side that is in pieces. It was taken down to the frame and was waiting to be restored. The good news is all the parts that I will be able to use. Here is just a few of the following brand new parts still in the boxes:

front and rear bumpers
tach cluster
tailgate
headlights
tail lights
side markers
fenders

It also comes with a big block, tranny, wheels and tires and basically everything else to put it back together. I have no intentions of putting it back together, I plan on sellling the parts I dont need to pay me Dad the money back he spent to get the truck. It also has a title. Dont want to say how much we paid for it, but it was a steal. It was basically the 2nd time it has been sold in its current condition because the previous owners either ran into money issues, or just did not have the time to spend fixing it up. I should be able to obtain a few thousand dollars of new parts for free, thats the plan anyway. I will post up some pics when I start to pick it up.

Sweet, it feels good to score something like that, where you can use a lot and still make money back. The project is looking great, I like the rolling frame, very sexy!

Re: Iced Green dream

Here is a couple pics for Nuke1. Not the best, hope they help. I can take more with a better camera next weekend if needed. The headers are Sandersons that I got from early classics. They fit pretty good, just make it hard to get to the spark plugs. They dump right below the firewall and allow you to run the exhaust between the frame rails.

Re: Iced Green dream

just a few more pics. I moved my parts truck into the shop and onto the lift so I could really start to tear into it. I want to get the parts I need and get rid of it. I dont like having too much stuff laying around. I was needing a little motivation and seeing how far my frame has come sitting next to the old parts truck was real motivating.

Re: Iced Green dream

Lookin good bro! Are you going to be reusing the steering wheel from the longbed 69-70 parts truck? I could slap it on a column and put some miles on it if you haven't already found it a home. I'd also think about adding the straps to the gas tank. I would think it would spread the weight of the load out instead of just concentrating it to the areas where it's been bolted in. You may never have an issue with it but I'd feel safer adding some straps on there as well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I wish the steering wheel was black, I would have kept it. This one already sold on ebay. I think your right about the straps, I will probably fix it now while I have easy access to it.

Good stuff, looks all too familiar. Any thoughts as to where you'll be mounting the compressor, tank, solenoids, ecm?

I really have not decided yet but I am considering these 3 options.

1) Airpod from Air Ride Tech in the bed, or behind the seat (seems too pricey)

2) Ride pro set up behind the seat (still pricey but could swing it)

3) piece together my own system, mount tank along frame rails (cheapest)

I like the ride pro system and I really want to do the ride height sensors and all. I am pretty sure I will end up with option 2, just because I have to work overtime to pay for my truck parts and I dont want to have to work myself to death to go with the airpod, eventhough it is only a few hundred more. I would like to hide all the air ride stuff too, just to go with the "sleeper" look. I need to get my cab mounted on the frame so I can start to lay everything out and plumb it all in, of course I have to buy it also.

Re: Iced Green dream

I just got back from the valley after picking up the other truck I managed to find. I brought home lots of parts to sell, and lots that Im keeping. I am going to be listing the truck for sale as soon as I figure out a price for it. I posted a thread on the WIW section earlier. I have attached a few photos for you all to see. The truck is a 72 SWB fleet side with leaf spring suspension. The price will include the frame, cab, bed, rear end and front suspension that was removed. It will also include the doors and hood. The truck was a 5 lug disc brake truck. The doors are in excellent shape and the cab has some minor rust issues. The passenger side bed panel will need to be replaced. This truck would be a great start for a project truck, and it has a clean title.

I should have some photos of the new goods I picked up soon. I have to organize my garage tommorrow and I will share with everyone when I am finished. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
