I'd like to see the back piece as well, although it does have some pretty complicated curves. Even in non rust belt area's I've seen this area rust out because water gets between the outer skin and that inner "L" channel piece.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
is there a difference between the one for 67-68 and the one for 69-72? i found that i couldn't use the stock aux battery tray in my '68 because the 67-68 and 69-72 trucks use a very diff't core support with holes and braces in diff't locations.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
I put an OEM '72 battery tray in my '67 (the normal passenger side tray). Maybe it's just the aux ones that are different?

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Is the any chance of getting rear gravel guards for stepside beds? They currently make a gravel guard for fleet side models and the steps side guard is just a shortened verson of the fleet side gravel guard. These things are as rare as hen's teeth. I only saw one set of these on the board in the last 5 years and they lasted 10 minutes. There has to be a market for them.

More colors of arm rests, dash pads, and sunvisors. Specifically for me that would be the medium green.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
3x on the Burb liftgate. How about a patch panel for the front section of the passenger inner fender that's always rusted under the battery?

Re: What parts aren't out there?
LWB Bedsides!! I can't believe no one has them??
And I second the tool box door. Maybe a one piece rocker panel that also has a little of the floor area molded in to it? I'm always seeing the rocker panel rust extending up into the floor an inch or so... |

A patch panel to fix the bottom left side of core supports, under the battery area where mud & gunk build up and rust out the ledge that bolts to the inner fender. It would be cheaper & easier to ship than a buying/shipping whole core support. Last edited by Americanrider; 02-27-2007 at 03:17 AM. |

Re: What parts aren't out there?
I've got buddy buckets in my 68 K20. I can't seem to find molded seat cushions for the center console portion, otherwise known as the "buddy seat."

Re: What parts aren't out there?
If this part isn't being made, then I wonder how many of us could use one, besides me? This is what I found when I got through removing the A/C and heater boxes. Should serve to warn everyone about using the right automotive sealers....

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Right. I suspect we'll be cutting out a big piece of the cowl sides and fixin' the damage. When that is done, the plan is to install a helladrain to carry the water/leaves/dirt away from the plenum....and to install a screen on the bottom of the air intake to keep them from getting in, in the first place. I'm gonna reckon that you Yanks have seen rust like mine, many times. Sucks, don't it?
Thanks for the post.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Tri-Pro, are you a vendor, supplier or stamper? I worked at a stamping plant for 10 yrs. Takes a lot of time and cash to tool up a new product. Seems like the LWB sides are the most wanted but industry wide SWB are the most popular thats why there stamped. I had a plant manager that was from GM. He had contacts in GM and checked if the old dies was around. GM scraped 'em years ago. Just curious on what kind of connections you had on this stuff.

I've been in the industry for a number of years and used to work for Taiwan Kai Yih Industrial. I am working with another manufacturer now that specializes in parts for these vehicles. Yes; it does take a lot of time and money to produce parts. That is exactly why a public forum like this is an ideal resource for new product development ideas. After all of the obvious parts are made it takes a little more research to decide what to do next. |
