Amazing what a coat of paint will do to a set of rims - looks good. Cute girls you have, handsome boys too!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
That's awesome! Lots of real boys around here lately, what with 15 year old twin girls and my 11 year old in the pic's. Got stupid yesterday, and tried to show off for a couple of boys over seeing the girls. Decided I would launch the K5 into the back yard over a little hill. Well, I launched it alright, but forgot to secure the battery! Ended up ripped apart by my flex fan! The boys were impressed-with my stupidity! Looks like it just trashed the battery, not the radiator, luckily! Well, I needed a reason to get a new one anyway, right honey?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Great stuff right there. cant say I've never done something dumb showing off, like when i decided the 30 some people that just went tubing with me down the river should see me drive in it... all fine and dandy til it died, worryed me a bit, took a little longer to get it started than normal, Whew! Drive it out and park it.... it was still fun though

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Wow, big day, got my weld on spring perches for the 14 bolt, and the guardsman for the rear pinion yoke. Both from DIY4X. Also got my interior rear wheel tubs from Sharpie, man, are they sweet! Took some pic's with my 35 mm, but digital camera needed batteries charged, post up asap! I did get the DIY4X stuff painted tonight, looks real good! Time to really look at the driveshaft/cv $$.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Ok, Now I'm ripping! I got crazy yesterday and tore the outer homemade rocker panels off the K5. Wanted to see what I was in for as far as rocker box replacement. Oh yea, major rust, boxes were full of old mud, rotted metal, etc. Took some pic's, will post up later today. Looks like some big time floor and rocker/torsion box work is ahead soon! At least now I really know what I am up against as far as A&B pillar repairs also. Oh yea, it's on now, stage 4 has really begun!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
There will be a long list of stuff for sale once the 1 ton axels are in. Keeping the lift for now, but 15" wheels and tires will be up for grabs as soon as it's rolling on 8 lugs! Everything will be listed in the blazer and suburban stuff forum when I'm ready, thank's! Oh, by the way guy's, I got those frame brackets I bought here today. An assortment, as you will, I identified 9 out of the 16 so far! I'll try to post up some pic's of the ones I have no clue about and see if anybody can help me out. I do know there's a couple so far I won't be needing, so I'll figure it out and see if any of y'all might need them!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Need some electrical help here. Since I tossed the battery out of the box into the fan, I put in the new battery today, and nothing when you hit the key. Checked the fuse box, but didn't have much time before dark. Looked in all my manuals for a pic of the actual fuse box in my 1970, and nothing. I was thinking fuseable link somewhere maybe? Looked everywhere I could with the time I had, but ? Anybody got any ideas? After looking at all the wiring today, looks like it's all going to need an upgrade for this build also. Lot of cobbled wires, and all old, ready to fail wires! Any advice? I really just want to get it fired up again for now, and then concentrate on all the wiring upgrades. The labels on my fuse box are so faded I can't hardly read them, anybody got a good pic? of a 1970 fuse panel?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Everybody I talked to at work today said, probably the fusible link at the starter or shorted out the starter solenoid. I was going to pull the starter tonight and look it over but it's raining pretty good out there. Anybody?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
The fusible link on my trucks goes from the positive battery cable lead at the battery to a block located on the passenger inner fender - it is a pigtail off the cable lead. Usually pretty obvious when the fusible link burns and it is a likely culprit. I guess it is also possible that when the old batter went flying, it broke the fusible link rather than the link burning.
For electrical questions I've found the guys who visit the electrical subforum are very helpful so might want to get his question over there.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's YJ! There is a reason I am not a mechanic. Crawled under today and removed starter, changed solenoid, repaired sorry looking wires, taped it all up good, and nothing! Stared under the hood a while, and saw that wire you were talking about! Mine is no longer a fusible link, but a wire no doubt. Repaired it, and charged up the battery, and whoom! Cool, got it out of the yard and parked it down by my driveway. Happy, happy, day!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got my used front fenders from Billsbowtie today. Gonna take some TLC to knock out some small dings and scratches, but way better than what I am running now. Going to get them blasted, and smooth out all the dings. I am happy, 2 useable fenders delivered, all for less than $200.00! Just need a couple front inner fenderwells now! Gotta go talk to the blast shop guy, and see what I can afford to get done right away. Just really happy to get the beast fired back up again tonight! I will post up some pic's of the new, used front fenders asap!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
A little bit of progress today after work. Took the new/used front fenders to the car wash and cleaned them up. Put them in the basement to dry and be safe till I drop them off to be sandblasted. Also went out and pulled the transmission/t-case high hump off, along with the old transmission ripped boot and retaining ring. I'll post up some pic's asap!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Not much this weekend. I did pull the inside fuel tubing cover off, pretty rusty in this area, bottom is rusted right off the cover. Also pulled the rear tailgate side trim pieces off, only broke 1 screw off. Gonna evaluate the rust and decide what I need for patch panels back there.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Ya, my Blazer has patch panels welded on top of what was left of the original floor. Once I get electricity in the garage, I plan to start battling the rust on mine
