Just noticed that carb doesn't appear to have a detachable throttle plate... like the Holley's - hmmm well chalk one up for Holley in that department..

If the original carb was old enough to require a rebuild it may be more likely to have worn bushings that are subtle or difficult to perceive as a problem..

Yep, Vacuum leaks as well as fuel leaks.
