I don't know yet. Think I might paint it or just repolishing and leave it.

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Did a little work today since it's raining out. Welded the drivers inner kick panel in and the lower post section. Got to looking and studying while I was welding all this in and notice the inner rocker on the aftermarket piece actually tapered from front to rear about 5/8". So when I put the rocker up there the bottom had nothing to weld to. I cut a section about 18-20" out and made a new piece with a wedge in it out of 16 guage sheetmetal that was the same thickness as the aftermarket piece.trimed it and welded it in.
It was time to stop when I ran out of weld through primer so grabbed the family and went to visit relatives and picked up some from oriellys. |

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Thanks guys. Recieved one of many boxes today from porterbuilt. It's a small box but any box is a good one. Also the shirts from hot rod avanue showed up today. Thanks to randy.... I surprised my son with a small but even at 6 it almost fits him. Great shirts if u guys get a chance buy some. There a great company.
Finished up the other floor yesterday on the drivers side. Had the same problem as the passenger side except the body hole was back 1" and to the outside 1". Hopefully this week I'll be selling the gasser and receiving another toy as a daily driver. Won't know till Friday but I'm psyched about it. |

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Nothing got done this week or weekend. I recieved the new sway bar stuff for the front end. Took the 1953 chevy gasser about 3 hours away for a new home. Said good bye. So picked up a hitch hiker on the way home.
A 1964 c10 shortbed fleetside... Wow this thing needs a lot of attention. The purpose is to use this as a daily driver and scoot around truck. It's had a bad past and I'm going to resurrect it and make it nice again atleast to drive and feel safe.at one point in its life it had the engine moved to mid engine....wtf why. So they cut out the back cab wall and thn put it back in with really bad welds. As well as the firewall. The front frame was cut off at the support for a tilt frontend...fenders we're cut diagonal to the cowl and hood and fenders were actuated..... So this up coming weekend I'm off to pick up a short bed frame roller and a spare parts cab to fix the 2 time over mess... So when the parts come in I can work back on the truck named "Larry" and then we'll work on"bob" when I get time.. My son has named them from veggie tales books. |

Nice work!
I got one of those shirts too. I found one of their flyers in the back of my truck when I was at Good Guys in Columbus last month. It had a picture of that shirt on it so when I got home I ordered one

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Went to southern South Carolina today and picked up a realy nice shortbed rolling chassis for "bob" the 64 green truck today. Also a not so nice cab but had the good sheetmetal sections I needed to fix the cab. That pretty much took all day. Left at 6:00 am and got back at 4:00 pm and didn't take but an hour to get the truck and load it.but it's all worth it, mett some really nice folks.
Talked with porterbuilt Friday and they gave me a ship date of next week. That's good news. In the meantime I'll get the other truck together for the daily driver. |

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Today I recieved a nice surprise... The acuair e-level setup came in today with 2 vair chrome compressors and a polished aluminum 5 gal air tank... Man this setup is so nice the way it's all layer out and prewired. Beats the old way of hooking up 8 individual valves and wiring them all to some switches and then hooking up the tank and compressors and pressure switch all to something that isn't exactly how u want it to look. Still have to get some quarter airline and fittings but wasn't sure if I wanted to stainless hard line or run black nylon.... Thinking hard line. I've done it before on my last feature truck and it's so clean and bullet proof.
Also had some paint delivered for the frame for the daily. Looking like a long weekend so I can start getting the daily pieced back together so I can open up the shop for the main project... Also the best word of the day was an email from Dave porter with all the tracking number for 9 boxes for the porterbuilt suspension... Man I bet that ups truck can drive itself as many times he's been here in the last few months. I'm getting excited and hyped for this to get here. I know it's going to be worth the wait. |

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Long weekend so far. Got the new old frame in the shop for the daily on Saturday and put all new brakes, wheel cylinders, rear housing gaskets, new lowered coils front and rear, new brake hoses, fixed rear parking brakes, repacked the bearings.
Got up this morning and cut the cab apart, roof is off in one piece, took both lower tulip vents, cut dash out, firewall section Needed, and back cab wall and gas tank mounts. Took cab off frame, finished titling the old manual trans mount rivets out, loaded it on the trailer and took it to work.pressure washed it again... Not the greatest but looks better. Came back this afternoon and took wheels off and shot it with some chassis saver antique black. Not the greatest look but better than dirt and rust.ill go back in the morning and put the wheels on it. |

Re: 66 c10 big window shortbed dropmember build up.
Also picked up 6 quarts of light blue water born paint for the daily. The original color of the truck was light blue so this is real close, and at 6 almost 7 quarts spray able light blue it's hard to pass it up for free.
