Tie rods. 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton for 1/2 ton spindle. Just needed AZ Pro performance sleeves. I did not change 3/4 ton center link.

hardwaa, the truck's finish looks to be a good candidate for that. the overall finish is consistant & the "patina" seems to be in the right spots too. just my 0.02 worth though, I like a very nice paint job too!

one of these days we will need to meet over at each other's garage - I believe we are pretty close to each other....

Very nice and making progress! I think if you give that thing a good bath, a little CLR and maybe some polish here and there you will be getting waves and thumbs up all over town.

Re: My 1968 C-20 vermillion metallic...1 in a VERmillion

What size tires did you use?
Did you get the bench seat re- done?
Thanks for all you have shared. I’m sure there are other threads here that have converted a 3/4 ton to a half ton, but yours is first I’ve seen, Very well done!

Man............that boy is looking good. I love the wheel and tire package along with the stance now. And it is a full bed and not any of that short stuff.

Thanks for all the kind words!! Here is the vinyl and fabric I picked out for the seat. Not factory correct but it will work and it’s a little HotRod style. I like the fabric has a maroon smear in it.

Re: My 1968 C-20 vermillion metallic...1 in a VERmillion

I really like this truck. It's cool to me that you wanted this color and figured you'd never find it. Bringing it back into good usability and drivability is actually my favorite kind of build thread. Not that I don't like full custom work and stuff, but I can relate to a build like yours. If you are interested in seeing how well you can bring back the paint, you might want to look into Meguiar's number 7. There are also a few other steps I can recommend that will bring black some clarity and shine. Not mirror gloss like new paint, but a nice luster.

I agree.
I wonder if that seat or seat over is original??? From what I've read here (someone correct me if needed...) That seat cover generally came with the Custom Sport Truck option package. The original seat should have been ALL one color??? I had NEVER seen that fancy Custom cover (original) in ANY pickup, EVER...Way Cool!!!

I too love the Vermilion. Mine is one year older and the paint looked a lot like yours when I got it. It was a bare bones farm truck that I added the OE options to bring it up to the CST level

A good cleaning and a little elbow grease will make that thing pop! Really like your direction on this one. Love to see the survivors on the road in all conditions.

Canuck,
What steering wheel is that you added? I like that one. I still have the stock one like in your one interior photo but have been looking at other options.

That is the 15” wheel from my 72 Corvette. I had it made 20 yrs ago by a guy that referbished Corvette teak steering wheels.

What a difference a chrome rear bumper and older AZ license plate make.
