Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
Got some color on the fire-wall - trying to decide if I go with the classic white on top of the cab or not... productive day though.

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
And in the interior - the clear didn't lay as flat as I would like - I think it was due to spray in close quarters... laid much better on the firewall - so I'll probably cut it with 1000 grit and give it another go maybe with a little more pressure - any thoughts here appreciated.

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
Thanks guys... got the old girl set back over the frame - can't find the two front shims so have a couple of them on order then hopefully I can start putting this old girl back together... a lot of little modifications to linkages and stuff to deal with - the manual clutch etc... but can't tell you how much better I feel just having her sitting back on the frame - let all the air out and she lays rockers.

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
New shims are in - front two mounts are in - had to clearance the holes so the new mounts would sit down in - have to do the rear two - since I was up under the front end - I decided to get the new brake lines run in the front.

Surgery to the transmission hump complete - looks like that TKO was born there...

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
I'd like to see/hear more details on the TKO swap. Where did you get the TKO and what shifter did you use? What location is the shifter? Are you using the bench seat?
More details! More pictures! |

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
TKO is the mid shifter location - told they don't do the front location anymore - not sure if there's any truth to that or not... don't know what I'm doing for a shifter yet - but dropped the seat in and it looks like I'll have plenty options - doesn't look like I'll have any issues with clearance - put the doors on today - had to do some surgery - will post some pictures of that tomorrow once I get that all finished up... here's a shot with the seat in and a shot of the girl side to... starting to feel like I am making some ground... have to figure out how I'm going to raise the bed floor in the back due to the extreme notch...

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
So I tack welded the rear pan in place - wasn't sure if this the direction I was going to go or not - but after seeing it on here..... I really kinda like the look of it. Also mocked up the stepside fender so I could get a look at how things were coming together.

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
Thanks man - making some slow but steady progress this week. Here's adding the end cap on the passenger side - not an ounce of mud on this - amazed how far my skills have come since the beginning of this thing.

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
I have been thumbing through several - I have been avoiding it a bit myself because I don't to screw it up. I was going to use some 1" tubing but I want to put wood back down and I don't think that's going to be wide enough on the two outsides... but I do have plans to tackle that this week so hopefully I will be able to provide an update soon enough

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
Got the radiator and the inside of the front fenders all painted up... doing the body work on the front nose - hopefully get that into some paint over the next day or two. Had the rails for the bed sand blasted - so hopefully can get that all picked up tonight and start mocking up the rear of this thing.

Re: 64 StepSide - Let's the games begin
It's a turquoise metallic - can't tell you how many colors it was in my head before settling on this - hope the rest of the truck turns out as good as the radiator support lol.
