Yep. Chalet #1221, built in 9/76.

The longer backstory is this is the same seller that succeeded (so far) in auctioning off the Michigan Chevy dealership Chalet #0429 'unrestored low miles time-capsule original' for $125,000 ... that had a used car dealership plate on the back. All other bidders dropped out after the $47,500 mark on that one, leaving only two guys who apparently had more money than God to bid on it. Either one of them could have bought the rig for cash from the seller for $59,900 (an unrealistic price, I thought) before it was placed in auction. Hence, the asking price for this one at $119k. I highly doubt they'll get that price, or anything particularly close to it. It has a variety of restoration faults going on which significantly affects the 'dealership showroom new appearance' collector value. At least the stripe color sequence error was somewhat corrected (in non-original hues compared to what's seen in GM brochures and magazine ads) from the way it was seen in its donk wheels debut video -- notice in the last few seconds of the video, its roof really wanted to take off flying: https://www.facebook.com/thesandmand...4405743572974/

This one seems to be listed for auction on Bring a trailer. Oh, and just for fun, it appears I started this thread back in 2007. LOL

This latest Chalet at the Bring a Trailer auction is #0579, built in 8/76.

Meanwhile, I can offer updates of several of the rigs seen in previous posts within this particular thread.

- The mega-lift Chalet #0251 in posts 16 & 19 is seen for sale in a current San Diego Craigslist ad, where the seller has dropped its prices at least 3 times by multi-thousand dollar increments going back to last August.
- Chalet #1460 in post #39 is back for sale again in Utah by either the same owner - unsold after all this time - or by the next owner/flipper after him.
- Chalet #1203 in post #49, with its non-original refurbished interior and glued-down roof went unsold with 4 price drops for the next 2 years to half its original asking price, then ended up in CA with a $4 grand price hike to $9500 with no change to its condition, and then the seller lucked out on eBay by selling it for over $20 grand to an apparently very unsuspecting bidder who had no idea the interior was non-original or that the roof was non-operable.
- Chalet #1426 in posts 53 & 54 was bizarrely demanded to be repainted incorrectly by a billionaire (so I'm told) owner of a classic car restoration shop/dealership last June and then offered for $94,000, but in an online bid auction in Sept, it only got to $30,000.
- Chalet #1221 in post #73 is still available through the consignment seller at $72,900, but in that classic car dealer's second attempt to bid-auction it on eBay for the owner, the bidding topped out at $35,100, which is a fairly good indication that the owner needs to scale way back on his value expectations.

Meanwhile, not mentioned in this thread but instead mentioned here at 67-72Chev in this thread, post #14 is the Chalet #0058 that popped up in Texas after its brief bit of fame at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. It reappeared at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction just over two weeks ago in pretty much the same condition as it was 13 years ago (but with its recently buckled hood repaired), and the top bid was $30,000 (+$3 grand in commissions), which arguably sets the benchmark for the relative values of these things, somewhat similar to what the above BaT auction did. However, it reappeared just days ago in a Mankato MN classic car dealership ….. at just short of double the price.

Thanks!! I spotted his other 1-day-earlier listing of it, and my Google Alerts email thing did manage to pick up the listing you found and alert me to it (more often than not, Google misses these, which is why I rely on many of you guys to catch 'em).

This one appeared last year around this time in a Coeur D Alene Craigslist ad under (I assume) the prior owner, who didn't share its camper unit serial number. Took me two email tries with the current seller, and likely others might have also asked about it -- he replied back with its number while also adding a pic of the serial number plate to his ad here. It's another new one for my mega-spreadsheet list that fills the gap between #s 1517 and 1521.

Did they only use odd numbers in the sequence?

Edit: Read through post again and see that there were even numbers used also.

Yep, but the thing that got a bit hokey toward the end of Chinook's making of these was the stamped dates for manufacture. In '76 and up through most of '77, the manufacturing dates pretty much went in logical sequence with the rising serial numbers. Seems they made many in batches during particular months. Toward the end, I've seen rigs with stamped dates in the serial number plates that are January '77 for corresponding serial numbers that are lower than others that are stamped 12/76, as seen in the attached photo. Meanwhile, the lone figure for the total produced - allegedly 1,780 - comes from the second paragraph of this magazine article, but as the photo shows below, there is a GMC Casa Grande with a serial number of #1799. My guess is some Chinook employee might have stamped out more plates than needed for the last of their camper units, and maybe the other employees just stamped in dates regardless of whether the dates were getting out of sequence with the serial numbers.
