Re: J.M. Laflamme Build

nice try... keep thinking...

another hint!

where they are now is very close to where they were originally placed but to hold something very different.

I thought this was an easy one too...lol

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build

more floor repair on merging the new floor with the old cab.

getting closer...

Also, I ordered the Altman Easy Latch Kit from Classic Parts.

Cannot wait for the kit to come in.

Door hinge rebuild kits on their way to boot. I should have some nice swinging doors in the next week or two!... yeah!

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build

i love your build! I almost considered doing the "firewall and floor swap" on my 1953 GMC project but didn't....if i were to start over again i probably would do that...just a lot newer and easier to work with good metal.....keep up the good work!

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build

while i have been away from the shop, I took my time and rebuilt my door hinges courtesy of Classic Parts.

sand blasted the nasties off them, then straightened them out.

prime and painted, then the install of the hinge kits.

really easy to do and a hell of a lot cheaper than $50 a pop for 4 new hinges.

thanks! On this style cab you do not have to split the roof depending on how you do the process of the chop.

thanks again,

I have been slowing down a bit with snow and work getting in the way. Back to it this weekend to hopefully get the cab finish welded and off the chassis.

Thanks dude! I appreciate it...

It is a lot of work either way you go, but I am glad i did it this way. It is going to save me a lot of trouble in the long run.

I hopefully will have the cab buttoned up within the next week or two and get it off the frame.

Then, starts the chassis renovation.

What would you like to know? Be a tad more specific and I can try to answer you better.

Thank You for your interest,

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build

I guess that I am looking for a build of the chop sequence. Thinking about doing it and want to follow someone else that has already done it with this style cab. I would like to avoid the mistakes of trying to figure it out on my own.

good question!!!

I am going to either;

#1 = move the support under the hood forward 4 inches and mount the hinges on the new firewall.

or

#2 = go with a front tilt kit for the hood.

or

#3 = (if I can find a deal) go with the full tilt front nose.

suggestions?

thanks,

Brian

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build

front tilt is what I thought would be the easiest
but a tilt fiberglass would show off the cool firewall work
