Well got started on bed again. Here is a patch I had to do, bed was pretty messed up here metal was all stretched.

Here it is pretty much finished and bolted fender up to start work on it.

Also got the new rear bed sill mounted and welded up. Took awhile to get everything lined up. Tailgate was something else I worked on.

My tailgate had 3 sides that had been broken loose from the welds. Pretty sure this truck was hit in rear before just by how bad the rear sill was.

Here it is all welded back and sanded down. Man did that take a long time.

Pretty much that is all I have been doing lately. The whole bed is now down to metal. Now it is weld grind sand cuss weld grind sand. Lol What a mess this makes as well. When I pull the cab it will be going to media blasting.

So does anyone know what year this bezel came off of that I got? The one on the left is what was on the grill I bought the one on the right is one I picked up on ebay, it appears to be a cast part where the one on left appears to be a pressed part. The cast one is heavier and a lot nicer and hoping I can find another. Was there a certain year that they used cast bezels?

Good work on the tailgate. My truck didn't come with one when I bought it. I thought no problem, ill pick up a used one and bolt it on....wrong! A gate wouldn't even fit the back. Had to push out the bedsides over an inch, grind all the bondo out of the rear channel, repair a gate then decide to go with a new Mar-k one. Then respray the back half of the truck and the new gate to blend the color into the bedsides without repainting the whole bed. I feel your pain. Hang in there, it gets better.

Well finally got back to working on the truck for the last month or so. A week after the Thanksgiving holiday I ended up in hospital with abdominal pain. Ended up having to have emergency surgery to remove some small intestine that had lost blood flow and died. I now have a 8 inch scar from below the belt line to just above navel. Took me a few months to heal up and then a few months getting the muscles built back up that were cut. Feeling pretty much back to normal now.

Here is a few pics of new headers and also got the wires and looms for the Mallory unilite distributor.

Patriot Clippster Headers H8021-1 they are suppose to bolt right in but there is a fitment problem by motor mounts. I am thinking about the new CPP mounts suppose to get you another inch or so of clearance.

Here is bed after sealer primer I let it dry a week then used red scotch brite lightly before paint

Here is the bed with single stage Acrylic Urethane I chose a dove gray for finish color. This is my first paint job. I know it is not perfect but overall I am happy. I thought single stage with no metal flake would be best to do first. There is a lot to this painting lol. I sanded a few times off primer that had terrible orange peel before I finally got the hang of it. I am going to just pinstripe a black line around letters on tailgate. That is it for now next is patching doors and front fenders then pull cab for media blasting. This body work takes a long time. I see trucks all the time for sale that say the drive line is all rebuilt the hard part is over just needs paint not sure that is a true statement Lol.

Changed my mind on the paint color sanded bed all down and went with a darker Gray.

Here is photos of the rocker repair. I did clean up all rust and used undercoating before putting back together.

Here are photos of one of the fender patches. On both fenders when I removed the bolt on bottom of fender the threads disintegrated so had to replace inner bracket as well. You can see where I cut in the middle of the hole to align old bracket with new this worked really well. I used the fender seal bracket to verify all was lined up. I was actually able to find new pinch pins so installing the brackets will be a snap.
