Re: Project "Old Yeller"

Here are my before and after measurments......

Before

Driver front 32.5"
Passenger front 32.5"

Driver rear 33"
Passenger rear 33 1/2"

After

Driver front 28"
Passenger front 28" (actually a couple hairs lower)

Driver rear 28" (actually a couple hairs lower)
Passenger rear 28 1/4"

I haven't driven the truck yet so there has been no setteling or self adjusting but it looks like I'm pretty close to a 4.5/5" drop with my 4.5/6 ece kit. Hard to tell exactly what may hap[pen due to the age of teh old parts but I think nates truck sat a hair higher stock in the front before the swap.

Pretty sure our trucks will sit almost exact when its all said and done.....

As far as the ece experience.....The kit is top notch, All parts were there and un dammaged(I haven't had a single issue as of yet)

The directions are decent but could use a little more detail and the black/white pictures are horrible. I would give there parts a solid 10+ and there directions a solid 7.

Thankfully nate did such a good job detailing the swap I often found myself visiting his thread for detailed shots.

Glad my build thread helped you out, and now other members have two threads to work from on the install of a 4.5/6" install.

Nice work buddy!

Okay... what are the specs? Where are the tires? Get those things mounted ASAP!

You can live without A/C, trust me, I know.

Raceline Stunnas (2 peice billet)

20x8.5
20x10

I went with the same backspacing you have and I have my fingers crossed it all works out...lol

Tires will hopefully come tommorow or saturday. I am half way tempted to try a 29" front tire and a 30" rear to try and get the tire a smidge more into the fender than yours. On the flip side I don't want it to rub.

What kind of tires did you go with (brand) tirerack dosen't have matching fronts and rears in your sizes.

How much lower did your truck get since the drop? Has there been alot of setteling?

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

I would say that they settled right in after the new wheels/tires were mounted. I'll have to check the measurements this weekend for you just to see if there has been a difference.

As for my tires, they are Toyo Proxes S/T II's, 255/40 and 295/40. I tried tirerack but couldn't get what I wanted. I actually ordered my tires through a local 4x shop and got a good deal IMO. A lot of the online sites that offered the S/T II's didn't seem to have good feedback which is why I contacted the local 4x shop. IMO, one of the best looking tires on the market. I love the ride, tread pattern, etc.

The only matching set that is close to my size are the BFG's 245/40 and 295/40; not that the 255 gave me much more than the 245 but I felt more comfortable with the 255. I used this site a ton.... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

It helped with the prespective.

Thanks for the info....

Do you think you would rub with that extra .5" of tire in the front?

I know big Al is rocking the 30" tires in teh rear w/o issue but I think a 30" in the rear is to big for a 28" front.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

That's a tough call. I also have a 250 inline 6 which should weigh about the same as a small block. (Those inlines are heavy motors)

I can look at my truck this weekend and see if it could accomodate an extra .5". IMO, 255/40 and 295/40 are just about darn near perfect; but I'm biased.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

Truck is done..........

40 year old brakes suck a big one. I think all the lines on the front half of the truck are new as the factory ones got hammered or sprung a leak during the install.

Discs are alot better and the booster makes a huge difference in peddal efford.

Had to round over the front of the hub area so the center caps fit.

Other than that the stance is perfect and the ECE kit fits as described. I am really happy I didn't go cheap and bought this kit.

Before......

After.......

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

The wheels/tires fill the wheel-wells up nicely.

Told you the BS would work, and matched with the right set of tires, priceless.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

X2 on the wheel BS numbers.
(Did you do a 5.5" BS up front? Kinda hard to tell in the pictures)

You have to adjust the BS numbers to make up for the difference in the front and rear track widths.
To me,... you just raised the value of your truck by $5k or more!

Keith, I might be mistaken but I think he ran the same BS as mine. (5.5" F and 4.75" R)

You did a great job.
Quality lowering products.
Quality wheels with the correct backspace.
People will/should copy your truck.
It's perfect!

Thanks.....

next step will be to freshen up the rear end (3:42's with limited slip) and than tear into the top end of the motor (Aluminum heads/cam) and exhaust(headers with full magnaflow set up dumping over the axel).

I bought a new gauge bezel as my stocker was tarnished.....The top is being a pain to remove? Seems like there is a trick or push release that I" haven't found yet.

We had a slight doggy issue...Our Boston Terrier decided to dig through the trash and eat a diaper. Needless to say it didnt agree with her and we almost lost her. She had emergency surgurey to remove the blockage.

Good news is they saved her live and she is back to her colorfull bouncy self....The bad news is it cost me $2800.00 right before Xmas
