Re: HOW TO: shop truck doors ?
This is one of those "fads" that I really wasnt into when it was first getting popular, but I have to say there are some pretty cool door logos on this thread...Almost wants me to think something up for my K20.

Re: HOW TO: shop truck doors ?
When I did mine I knew it wasn't original, but I used River City because I live in Des Moines Iowa and we have the Des Moines River flowing right through down town. Lots of cool trucks on here. I plan to add more lettering to mine later. By the way I used 1 shot pretty much right out of the can on a hot humid day so it would barely lay any paint down to get the aged look. Also I waited until it was almost dry and then wiped a rag with mineral spirits across it to weather it more.

Re: HOW TO: shop truck doors ?
Bringing this back to the top with a worth while how to. If you go to your local sign shop, they should be able to design and cut you out a template. Then just follow these easy steps. Paint it in with 1 shot and a brush, let it set up for a bit, peel the masking and then wipe some of the paint off with reducer.

Re: HOW TO: shop truck doors ?
I also have a way to do it without the template. If anybody wants I can do a how to. I have lettered the doors on my last two trucks.

Re: HOW TO: shop truck doors ?
Heres one my Dad did before he passed away, he was a signmaker by trade.
Paint is one-shot lettering enamel and effect was done by quick wipe with lacquer thinners, then rubbed down with what ever dirt and bits were swept up from the ground. |
