Re: project (sweet pea)
well a little more done saturday...not bad for 4 hours of work....it was alot of grinding and welding..but i have everything welded now....and got it all the crooks and crannies filled with some body wax...i epoxied everything before i started my work..but i know that there was metal showing somewhere....? so i drilled two 5/16s holes one in each side of the firewall...and ran my tube with the body wax....then welded my holes back up......hopefully it will all be fine as in,i dont want to do this again....anyways here are some current pics....i still have lots and lots of blocking to do..and some more mudd and glaze work....but you get the general idea.....sorry for the crappy cell phone pics....but there was no way if i left the shop i would return..it was chilly out there . if i had gotten in the house and felt the fire...i would not have went back.......lol

Re: project (sweet pea)
Well some progress is better than none...i got my castors on today and welded a few support brackets...i think i am going to add some more....but its really strong at this point...it held me (6/2..280) plus the cab...felt very solid inside the cab no movement and i felt no flexing....it is a little taller than i had wanted...about 4 inches to be exact....(the height of the castors) but i think it will save my back....and when i get to the roof...i think i will cut a little out of it....Hopefully this weather will stay like this...so i am not just limited to wroking on this thing on the weekends...it does not make much sence to me to fire up the heaters with propane being so high....i did have the garage a toasty 60 degrees...with moving around and welding it was plenty hot...Anyways here are a few pics.........
Edit....putting the cab on the stand alone....was a major pain in the butt....i dont recommend doing it alone......even with mt cherry picker as my muscle...it sucked........ Last edited by bad6772; 02-26-2008 at 06:12 AM. |

Re: project (sweet pea)
well few updates....got my hinges rebuilt today (both sides) and started to hang the doors to get some kind of fitment before i tackle the floor issues....they are going to need some tweaking for shure....more on the upper areas of the door than anything...i got things as close as i could with out breaking out the reamer bits....although they will be broke out i am shure...after an hour of trying to align the driver side upper..drilling out spot welds and moving the door posts i came to the conclusion it is going to need alot of work..so i decided i am going to try to use my originals instead...after i got it out completely and matched it ip to the original it will require alot of tweaking...i know my originals fit ..so im going to add the old with the new...( at least its not rust )...the passenger side is not as bad as the drivers side...but we will see once i get over there....i did hang the front fenders some what to get a idea of whats to come....they will also need some attention but thats to be expected...anyways..here are a few pics....i will be at it early in the morn and give it another 4/5 hours.....thanks for the compliments and encouragements ...

Re: project (sweet pea)
Well after 5 hours in the shop i got the dash done...Really it was pretty simple to do...But the strange and awkward positions i was in, took up a little more time than i had planned...none the less it came out just like i had wanted it...I also got the new ignition bezel made ...but failed to take pictures.... I used a factory radio delete and put the ignition switch , lighter and Nos arm switch ...looks pretty good to me....just need to do some final welding and finish work ...Anyways here are a few pics ...Starting with...the panel i had to make...a coat of mud, followed by a coat of glaze. and some sealer...

Look like it's coming along very nicely. You sure do good work. Could you hurry it up a bit though... I want to see some green paint on that bad boy.
