Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??

Thanks for the Stockton info, ... but I think having custom wheels made will cost more than buying off the shelf? I could be wrong ... didn't check into it yet. If somebody else on here wants to do a little 'price shopping' , see what they will charge for a 16 x 8" , 8 lug steel wheel that accepts 3/4 ton factory hubcaps, in White powdercoat finish. That will tell the story. I'll bet 160.00 a piece. Where are they located ... California? Shipping?

Check it out and let me know.

Here are Beelzeburb's wheels: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=133

The powdercoating alone cost an additional $45 per wheel. I could have saved $20 having them shipped to me in bare steel and letting a local shop powdercoat them, but it was more convenient letting Wheel Vintiques do it all in one shot. Of course, shipping is additional on top of everything else. It'd be a little cheaper to go with an 8" width. Actually, both the 7" and 8" ones are listed on Summit Racing's website, already painted white. Of course, all you have to do is call Wheel Vintiques on the phone and they'll be happy to get you the latest price, or contact one of the many dealers listed on their website.

I don't think they look very good on your truck. You need to take those off right away and sell them to me, so you can get other wheels on there.

Seriously ... if you don't mind sharing, what did it end up costing you to get them in WHITE from Wheel Vintiques?

Thanks,

72longbed

I ordered them at Summit Racing, they matched Wheel Vintiques price at 106.95 and their description and picture showed them to be white, plus no shipping since they have a store here. They showed up black, talked manager and all they could do was reorder and charge me $45.00 more each for white wheels. I had them powder coated white in town for $140.00. In an online survey I told them I wasn't very happy and a couple weeks later they gave me a $100.00 gift card. Almost paid for the powder coating.

First time trying to post a pic. Hope it works!

88 1 ton with pro comp 52s. They are 16x8 with 2.5 inch backspacing. Stick out like the 10 inch rims but keep the 8 inch size. Awesome so far.

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??

I'm ready to buy (4) white 16x8 series 82 white steel wheels! Anyone else want to try for a group purchase? The extra $45.00 per wheel they charge for white powder coating is stupid it must cost the same for white powder coat as black! I will contact Wheel Vintigues to see if they will knock off the extra $45.00 for white and how many wheels we would have to buy.

I bought a set of 285/75R16's, looked real good but rubbed on the left front, so came down to 265/75R16.

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??

I'll have to do some digging and find some pics, but I got a set of 16x7 Ford steel wheels that came on the 97 and earlier super duties as well as the later vans. The blue-bowtie dogdish style stainless caps snapped right on these wheels. I got set of 265/75/16 mud tires and I thought the truck looked pretty tough. The wheels had the look of the original 16.5" wheels. My goal was to get them sandblasted and powdercoated white, but a few complications put a stop to that. But I think I paid $35 per wheel.
