Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
And the motor is back in for the last time, had to clearance the rear brace of the oil pan to clear the steering linkage. I’ll get the transmission in tomorrow and then I can start adding everything to make it actually go. On a positive note, which was my goal with doing the motor mounts the way I did it looks like a stock low mount ac compressor will have more room than in a TBSS and possibly more than a truck.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
And the TBSS ac bracket and compressor that josh gave me as a spare for my daily, well it’ll work great for the Lincoln. Gotta love stock parts in stock locations. Bonus I can run the stock GTO oil dipstick as it just clears the rear of the ac

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
So the alternator has been a bit of an issue since the setup is designed for a 105 and I’m going to run a 145 amp. Passenger exhaust is in with the drivetrain in its final position, ac compressor is fully bolted now, dipstick situation taken care of. She’s coming along.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
You and the Jeep/Trailblazer guy are both mad scientists! Cool builds....both of you! I've been helping my son with his '66 Lincoln. At this point I'm going to say.....be glad you didn't stick with the old MEL engine. My son's is the 462 and we've been a few months now trying to get pistons in a .030" over. Finally having a custom set made by Ross Racing. These are just really cool old cars.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Egge was several months out on 'correct' pistons and as of the past few years I've run across several bad reviews of the piston quality.....like pistons breaking! Decided not to take a chance. The new custom pistons will be the correct shape but in a new 9.75:1 compression.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Sedans are still in “decent” price territory. The real problem is the price going up because of the few crazy sells that have happened. People will buy them with no research, and then any parts are 2-5 times the cost of any other classic and then people can’t afford to fix them. Real tricky cars if they aren’t complete or you want a proper restoration.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Not much has been going on, another family vehicle was given to me so the Lincoln didn’t get much done. That and I was waiting until I started at my new job before I bought any more parts. But here is how it sits now. Still have ac lines to deal with, fuel system, driveshaft, ecu/harness. I’ve never been one to make my engine bay “look good” so as you can tell it’s purely function.

Thank you. That’s what I always shoot for, not fancy but when you look at it you say did it come that way?

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
It’s a master/hydroboost combination from a gmt800 series. Had to make a 2” spacer and drop it down 1” to line up with the factory pedal height and still has full travel, lucky me I have the setup in my c10 also so I could just compare my travel.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Big truck weight and horsepower. I have the intent of upgraded the front discs to late model grand Cherokee rotors and GMt900 calipers

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Slow progress as the factory tank was garbage. So I hammered an 04-06 gto tank to match the hour glass Lincoln’s tank. Then put an aftermarket Ford fuel sending unit on the original pump module for the gto tank. Now I don’t have to worry about sealing wires coming through a tank and if my pump ever dies I can do just a pump or another gto module and swap the upper half of mine to a new unit

Forgot this picture. Haven’t messed with the car again. Been doing painting and tree cutting around the house.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Clearly there hasn’t been any progress on the Lincoln. It’s still sitting in the same spot in the garage. I ended up with the family truck finally, so it has been taking precedence since it’s more sentimental. So here is what it’s going to be a Cammed and Carbed 5.3, T56, All wheel drive, and 3.73 gears. I also have a Sonoma GT body kit, and complete interior for it. Then maybe I’ll get back to the Lincoln after

How about a family truck build thread? We can pick the Lincoln back up with you afterward.

Not really gonna be a “build” just throwing some parts together that I’ve had stashed away.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
Alright so as typical with me I did some more jumping around. I had been buying up parts for all of my vehicles including the c10 that is now officially a k20 with trailing arms and a gmc front end. Once I had all the doors and fenders I decided to get those painted, put on the truck and get the suspension wrapped up. It works out better with the 37s for the cummins since it has 4.10 gears. Josh aka gottattooz is going to get me an auto leveling air valve for the rear, once I put that on I’ll be able to have the rear height I want and be able to dump it to get in and out of the garage. It sits dead bits level now and rubs the rubber going in the garage, but I want it higher in the rear as to not be confused with these stupid squatted trucks running around. I most likely won’t do any more paint work till spring so the lincoln is on priority again

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?
As for the Lincoln, I pulled the cover off of it and back at it. I figure it’ll take less time to get this thing drivable but not done than the s15. The goal is to sell my suburban while the market is still hot but as of now it’s my only backup if I break the c10, I figure a 2500 burb shouldn’t be too difficult to sell down here in the south. So I didn’t do the picture thing but I built and installed the new 9” with 3.50 gears and a truetrac, should be able to sell the original Lincoln 2.89 posi to offset some of it as you can’t buy any 9 3/8” diff parts.
