Re: originals,,still have place in my heart ( pics )

I love that 65. It's been my screen saver for a looonnggg time. I say it's time we take up a collection and send him some white bumper bolts. (just kidding - were they supposed to be black on a white bumper? I really really like this truck)

no they were not black.they were either painted white and sometimes the painted bumper trucks also had the stainless steel capped bolts too.i have seen both variations on untouched original trucks.

I've been wondering about that very thing since I properly repainted my bumpers and replaced what I thought were incorrect stainless bolts up front. Perhaps they were correct after all. In the few years since doing that, I have seen quite a few 66's in particular with painted bumpers and stainless bolt caps. Hmmm, I may have to switch back.

here's a pic just before the re-do.

Re: originals,,still have place in my heart ( pics )

They were available through dealers or as an aftermarket accessory through Unity, the manufacturer.

Here’s a link showing a bunch of data:

Thank you very much. Now, about the tires ...did you really mean everything? ...or anything? Well, here's everything I know.
I was told the tires had never been replaced and were the ones that came on it when they bought it new. With the odometer reading just 8700 miles, I had no reason to doubt that claim. I also have two intact build sheets still in the seat springs indicating the original tire size as 8.15X15 -2 ply tires. Interestingly, two of the tires are exactly that, and two are a just bit larger (8.45X15), but identical otherwise.
Since I wasn't willing to risk the well being of the truck (or persons) to old, hardened, crispy tires, I sought to replace them with a new reproduction equivalent. The original tires and wheels were set aside, and a new set of BFG Silvertown blackwalls were mounted on a refinished set of correct wheels. the new tires closely match the old ones both in overall size and sidewall appearance (minus the slightly piecrusty edge).
I must say that I like the look, but crap, these things are mushy as heck in a corner.
A couple pics of the old and new:

Thanks; it is still putting right along to say the least.

Wasn't aware you sold the hugger truck, but I'm not disappointed in what you replaced it with. Any new projects in your future?

That is correct, '66 was the first year pickups with white bumpers came with stainless bolt caps, '60-'65 pickups with white bumpers came with white bumper bolts.
