Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Anybody done the radiator yet? I'm looking at anorthern aluminum radiator but cannot figure how to mount the universal model. I think that was what Jeff used but I cannot see his mounting brackets and how they are attached. Also has anyone installed headers yet? If so what kind? Thanks

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Well, the search is over. I bought a new cab today!!! This one, a 1950 5 window out of Arizona via Ohio!!!! It is very very solid. minimal surface rust only. Cab corners are solid, no replacement or patch panels will be needed on this cab. I feel like am so far ahead over my other cab. There is a small dent right in the front center of the cab roof. I got the dash as well. Im going to try to have the firewall sanded and primed this week, then I will mount the cab. With the weather getting warmer, I hoping to start making some weekly progess. thats the goal anyway!!!!
And if anyone wanted to know. The AD cabs will fit in the bed of a new full size pickup.

I hope that the AD cab forgives you for putting it in the back of a f@&d truck.
That is a nice find. Congrats.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
I thought I would catch some grief needing a ford to haul my chevy!!!!
Got the firewall sanded down and primed up today. Mounted the cab and threw on the front fenders. The cab went back perfectly where my old one was. I guess all the measuring and measuring and remeasuring paid off. It took about 10 minutes to bolt the cab down. Im hoping to have the inside of the cab sanded down and primed this weekend.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
What was the length of your driveshaft? What tranny are you using?
Just curious. I know alot of peoples will be different. I am finding out, the cross member will be moved, there will be a hump in the floor and the drive shaft length. I am running an NV3500 5 speed, 350 engine. thanks

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
99, we've got the NV3500 in ours but you'll have to know where your engine sits to make sure you have the right driveshaft length. You are right, they are all over the place!

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
99 to life,
The driveshaft is 58" center to center. I am running a 700R4, stock from my s10 donor truck. Your right, you will move the crossmember, need a different driveshaft and probably hump the floor. I did use the stock crossmember, cut and moved it back about 3 inches. I will have to hump the floor just a bit. I havent really gotten to that part yet. Dan is right, each build is different!! Good luck. Brian

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
58 inches - that's funny. I just had mine shortened to 58 3/4, measuring from the seal to the back of the cup. It only ran $80 to shorten and balance. Thanks Jim in Garden City. We must be close on engine/transmission position.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
My driveshaft is 56" and is from a mid '90's roadmaster. I'm running a LT1/4L60 and the shaft likes about 1 1/2 from being exactly where it was in the roadmaster which leave me still plenty of shaft in the tranny. I picked mine up at a local junkyard. I modified my stock S10 cross member by pie cutting the right side so it would fit the curve on the frame and on the left side frame cut it and bent it (hammered actually) inward to match the original mount base. Redrilled the holes and done.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Just got home from the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN, UNBELIEVABLE!!!! There were so many cars there. It was like a rolling car show for hours and hours. Its a must for car lovers, cars and trucks cruising the Smokey Mountains. Anyway, got my radiator home and couldnt wait to see how it fit. I have an extra core support that is butchered up. I used it to see how the fit is.
The radiator is from Summit 19 x 22. It fits perfect!!

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Here are few pix from the Grand Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN
This MIGHT BE the coolest car I have ever seen!!! Its a 3/4 scale 32 ford on a midget race car frame with a Harley 1200 sportster. The rims look like 20 rears/18 fronts but they were more like 15's/13's. The whole car is like 8 feet long. the owner said that HD was going to produce this with a partner but he passed away and no one took over. Apparently he only made 10 bodies, 9 are one the road. I have more pix of it if anyone is interested.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
That HD engine in the duce makes it cool in my book. It seems that duce's are everywhere, but when you see something like that to make it unique, that makes it it's own entity. Very cool thanks for sharing.
I wanted to do something similar with a 1200 HD engine and a small car. I was going to use a 60's Fiat 500 station wagon, but they wanted to much for the car so I bought my '51 instead; a better choice in retrospect.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Finally got some work done, seems like a long time since I made progress. Got all the holes welded up on the dash, fiberglassed and primed up. Its only bolted in. I still have to push it forward and spot weld it to the windshield frame lip. The dash came out really nice. Hoping to have the steering back in and buttoned up this week.
