Re: Maggie's Custom
She loves n2billet's truck, Hazel. So she painted the original valve covers to look like his, going with a early intake with the breather.

Re: Maggie's Custom
The last part I ordered was the first part I got! Track bar from Porterbuilt.
Wish I would have found him first!! Made three inch lowering blocks and installed the track bar. Painted the brake parts and installed them. Along with new axle bearings and seals. Its got 4.11 gears (that sucks), leaving them for now, we got a th350 and a 3500 stall convertor off of craigs list, with the convertor and gears it should make that 305 feel like a 307!! |

Re: Maggie's Custom
Hey Captain,
I am new to the thread as Budman56 said you are one of the best people who know when it comes to building trucks, especially the 60-66. When I purchased my truck it looked like it was hit by the bondo train. And honestly I had no idea what I was buying. After paying someone to fix the body, prep and paint it, I found out something about my wife that I blew my mind. Long ago, in a galaxy far far away, she used to be the final QC at a paint and body shop. When I drove my truck home with a big smile, she came outside and said those painful words "I cannot believe my eyes that the person who painted your truck actually took pride in his work...was he blind?" Though it is a crappy prep and paint job, but at a distance she is hot. Now I have drive train issues and the wife actually is on board with me to get 'er fixed. There's a knocking sound coming from the engine and it may be time to replace that 350. Since the motor is coming out, I want to replace the Turbo 350 tranny with a 700R4 (is this a good choice), and add a posi 3.73. Might as well put in the CFR alum headers and the 73-87 front end. Any recommendations, assistance, threads, or any information to help me on my way is greatly appreciated. SunJester 60 ps - I have no idea between a quick reply or the go advanced.

Re: Maggie's Custom
Another nice build.
It's neat she had her mind already set on the look and direction.

Re: Maggie's Custom
Our CPP order came in as well as a few of my bag parts! Still no notches!
In the mean time we've been doing little things. I got two wheels and tires mounted, some 205 70 15s I havd from a bug project! And our CPP order! New e-brake cables and installed the axles and drums! Than I rolled it out so I could power wash the cab and frame. After Jason |

Re: Maggie's Custom
I got some rusty white hubs caps off of e-bay! We started cleaning them up with a little CLR! Looking for some chrome hub caps too!!!
One of the four I bought had been primered so I took some paint thinner to get it all off. Here she is cleaning rust off of them and the one I got the primer off of is laying on the ground. Still have one more to do as we ran out of time. One on the truck. And before and after. Going to repaint the red on them and shoot some clear on them. Re: Maggie's Custom
Here are the front and rear upper bag plates, still have to install them!
Got a bunch more free metal yesterday to do the rear of my bag mounts! Went to the junk yard and got a spare wheel (also waiting on two rear wheels) flexplate, and non tilt steering column (all of the tilts we gone!) until I can find a tilt. As soon as my notches come in its on!! Jason Last edited by jdoisher; 07-20-2012 at 09:13 AM. |

Re: Maggie's Custom
You're making some good progress.
I hope you are planning on replacing those bolts attaching the rear end to the trailing arms with U-bolts.

Re: Maggie's Custom
If you dont have a Fastenal or an outfit that manufactures commercial trailers in your area, then you can get them from a bone yard.
You may have to ask around.

Re: Maggie's Custom
Take the cab off and run your frame out to the media blaster, then primer and paint. I think you'll like working with something thats not really rusty and will protect it in the future. Its cheaper than powder coating and since you already have it apart, isn't that difficult. Love the build and good luck!

Re: Maggie's Custom
Got a little done this weekend, worked on getting the front bag plates mounted, lower controls arms drilled and mounted, and bolting on the wheels.
Not as much as I wanted done but getting there. I had to move the slots around on both upper bag plate in order to get the bag where I wanted it to sit on the lower control arm, here the first one. Bag mounted. Template made so I could start drilling some holes. The other bag plate sloted. Holes drilled! |

Re: Maggie's Custom
Here's the truck sitting on the ground. After I got it together it was about two inches above the ground, it bottomed out on the upper ball joints. I had to grind the slot in the ball joint a little longer it get it on the ground. The CPP ball joint may have short slots as opposed to other brands, don't know.
After reading and reading some more and some pricing and ease of installation I chose to go with Ride Tech's air management system, 3/8 lines with 5 gallon tank. Jason and Maggie Last edited by jdoisher; 07-30-2012 at 10:10 AM. |

Time, ability, and money.
Sometimes we have more of one and not enough of the other, I assume most of us are this way, when gaining one the trade of is usually one of the others! I'm trying to balance them all!! jason thinks for all the positive comments! |
