Just playing around with whee and tire combos... fun fun but now it’s timw to get back to working on the thing. Next task is to get floor rust repaired and get to rockers and cab corners

Took some time away from the cab and decided to restore my k20 hubcaps for this build. First I polished them and removed old paint. Then I taped off the inlays where it should be black. Also taped off the bow tie.. Next was two coats of flat black. Upon the removal of masking tape i finished by painting the bow tie inlay blue. May be a tad dark but should look good in new steel wheels.. overall it took about 12 hours... but worth it in the end

That first picture of the sun glistening off of that cap is pure chrome goodness.

Wow, great build!!! I really like your K10 too. Great fab work you did on this unit. Someday I'll get around to building one.

Not much to update. Still work on it as much as I can. Been in the mid to high 90s past few weeks so that slows progress. Did remove the outer roof and start laying in the inner roof.

Been building some hickey parts for this project as well. Tried to replicate them as best as I can. Made a couple front axle trusses and for one up. Looks real good. Also to my knowledge they never made a finned aluminum diff cover for the 3/4 ton HO52 rears. So I started messing with some metal and ended up with a nice looking diff cover. Painted that up tonight to look like an aluminum one. Super happy with it.

Re: 1972 Chevy Crew Cab “Denali”
This is very similar to the plan I hope to use with my Headliner.
Just a suggestion I would weld a Jig. If you run a solid bar with{ tabs (down ward) } where you can bolt to your upper shoulder seat belt bolts. . Slotted brackets front side or back That would be slotted etc. etc. to hold the roof Up to keep it some what in position. You could put a Sheetmetal screw to hold it also. Then use it to support the roof while you are welding/ It will help with the heating and cooling of the roof panel for your plan. Just suggesting. Hope this helps. Your are making Great Progress. I hope to get back to work on my in a few months. .

Re: 1972 Chevy Crew Cab “Denali”
Great work on the diff cover and truss. I remember seeing a Hickey diff cover for a HO52 but I don't remember who had it. Definitely super rare.

Update for my fellow crew cab enthusiasts. Got the inner roof all welded in. Outer roof is also attached and the metal work in the inner and outer roof is complete.. on the inner roof I added an additional interior light to light up the front seats and console area...

Took advantage of the extended thanksgiving vacation and tacked some major rust repair of the c10 cab back I used. I got in a pinch trying to find a rust free cab back so I settled for average PA rust. I got both rear supports replaced, numerous floor patches, both cab corners, and I re worked my trans tunnel transition so carpet and sound deadened will lay down nicer. Still have some rust in the front half to fix and rockers and such but progress is progress.

Also in the last few months I took the time and worked with a fella up in Canada and got a 3D rendering for this build and he knocked it out of the park. Defianly got my motivation back for sure. If you need a rendering done I highly recommend Chad at RenderedRides. Killer work..

Re: 1972 Chevy Crew Cab “Denali”
Wow!! Those renderings are very nice and that truck will be beautiful. I love watching this thread. I would love to tackle something like this, but watching you do it is much cheaper
Now that you are motivated, let's see updates each week!
