I might have one for you. I parted out two short bed trucks and saved the driveshafts. I'll measure tomorrow when get back to the shop.

Re: 24 years later....here we go

Got tank put in and some pipe welded into cross member for exhaust. Chassis coat touched up, put the brake lines back on and plumb the tank in the next few days. Goes to exhaust shop Monday or Tuesday for Magnaflows...

Re: 24 years later....here we go

Today I got the tank finished up, with the wiring ran and filler neck done. Also ran the rear brake lines and brake and braided fuel line along frame. Need to order some clips. Also got the fatmat put down in the cab floor. We are gonna set the bed back on tomorrow so I can drill it for moulding before I take it back for phase 2 of paint. Quite a bit left but its coming alone good..

Looking very nice! You said that was a Mustang tank? Looks like it fits in there very well.

Re: 24 years later....here we go

mjensen, it fit pretty well. Its a 68 mustang tank. Im using the mustang sender for the pickup tube which is on the front of the tank, not visible in pics. I took the Ford sender and guts out of it, all thats left is the pickup tube, then got a 90ohm sender from tanks inc. and put it in top which is the one you see in pics. I cut the neck off my old tank and brazed to filler neck on 'stang tank. It was really pretty simple. The width is perfect. Gonna have to figure up something on bumper brackets, but compared to the scale of this project bumper brackets aint nothin' !!! Thanks Kyle, Im trying !!!

Re: 24 years later....here we go

My brother and I remounted the bed today. I cut a small hole in bed floor according to previous measurements and fortunately it was directly over center of the gas cap! That was a relief. Im going to put a billet fuel door in the floor of the bed. We also put the driver side moulding and door handle/lock on. These are my original door handles. Also drilled the bed for the upper moulding. Im waiting on some line clamps for the front to rear brake line, braided fuel line clamps, and my Lokar shift linkage from Summit. Im just gonna have a driveshaft made I guess. Did a few other odds and ends today, like the trim panel under the steering column and the cigar lighter. I need to get the glass in this thing. Its in a box across the shop. Im not looking forward to tackling that part. All I like is finishing....

Re: 24 years later....here we go

Look at those door gaps and the way the trim and paint lines all line up. That stuff doesn't happen by accident...

I almost like this this part of the build more than having it done. Really fun to see it coming together.

Re: 24 years later....here we go

Kyle spent alot of time on these doors getting the gaps right. Im sure he will tweak it all a little when I take it back. The more I look at it the more impressed with his work I become. So glad I decided to drag it up there. With diesel prices its kind of a commitment going back a forth 4 times but its way worth it.
