Good progress! I like the way that seat looks. I got Bilstiens from off road design. You'd probably have to put on the F250 extended front shock mounts to run them but the ride is great.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

I have been having problems with my truck being slow to turn over when it gets hot. I did a bunch of reading and decided to check the timing. So tonight i bought a timing light and started checking. It was set at 14 degrees so i backed it down to 10 degrees and now no more problems. So i snapped a couple pics will i had her out.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

The truck is still loosing anti-freeze somewhere. Its not in the oil. It doesn't leak it while setting in the garage. The thermostat isn't leaking and neither are the new hoses. I put a new radiator cap on it last night but haven't gotten it hot yet to see if that fixed it. I know the radiator has a very small pinhole that it barely oozes out and I'm loosing way more than that hole could let out. So I may be buying a new radiator soon. Any other thoughts?

Heater core? Check and see if the floor is wet.

I have the rubber floor liner and have not seen any anti-freeze on it and i just pulled it back and checked under it. Everything was dry. I will be driving it to work tomorrow so hopefully i will find out. I'm thinking that its blowing out the the overflow hose while driving and maybe the new cap will fix it but i have been wrong before

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

Really good work so far on the truck. Bringing it back to life and enjoying it as the truck was meant to be used. Sorry to hear about the leak of antifreeze. Where did you pull the bench seat from that you recently installed?

Keep up the good work and hopefully you find the source of the antifreeze leak soon.

Thanks! The cap did fix the leak. The seat came out of a 98 Chevy Regular cab truck.

I thought that putting a 160* thermostat in the truck would make it cooler in the cab on warmer days but i barely have a heater anymore so i will have to switch that back to the 190* one.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

Im still having trouble with hot starts. The truck fires up perfectly when cold but if i drive some where and shut it off and come back out 5 minutes later it turns over really slow like a dead battery. Its never not started but has got me really nervous several times. The battery is dated 2003 but the truck turns over fine when its cold out and the motor is cold. Am i wrong in thinking its okay? My exhaust clears my starter by 2-3 inches so i dont think its getting my starter to hot. Ive checked the timing and its set at 10*. HELP ME PLEASE IM STUCK!!

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

What is the current state of the engine wiring harness? without having read the entire thread i dont know if or when it was replaced. a lot of times a hot start issue can be helped or fixed by replacing the purple start wire that goes to the solenoid. they get hot and the resistance increases. they were a little undersized considering the heat they see. not sure that was your issue, but they often need attention.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"

Not to much picture worthy progress. Put new KYB Gas-a-just shocks on all the way around today made a huge difference over the worn out old original shocks. Been driving it about once a week to work with no problems what so ever! Next on the todo list is tires and stereo of some sort.

Im thinking about going with the Goodyear wrangler authority's that Walmart sells in a 31x10.50x15 for $680 mounted and balanced. i really want a 33" tall tire but don't think i can clear them without rub issues on the front.

For the stereo i was thinking about LMCs headliner with the speakers and spot for the stereo but for the price i could just buy a stereo the fits in the stock spot and do the under dash speaker and maybe some 6x9s under the seat?
