hey grendel, can you tell me the parts you're using in the suspension and how much total lift you have now? and, could you post up a pic of what you did to put the core support mounts back on?

my blazer supposedly has 4" of lift with 4" springs in the front and blocks in the back. the po was a dumb@ss so i'm trying to fix all of his "mods". i'd like to stay around 4" of lift but with a suspension i trust...you're looks pretty damned trustworthy!!!

ok, after reading some more threads...are the core support mounts on top of the fgb52 piece?
I won't have the K5 back for quite some time.

Yes, the core mounts are part of the bracketry from DIY4X.

There's the 52" long 2" lift springs with the FGB52 brackets in the front and a shackle flip in the rear with 56" long 4" lift springs. Total lift is 6". I've done this on a couple of rigs, works well and due to the longer springs flexes quite nicely.

Was up there today and took 50 some odd pics of it...what'da wanna see?

Going to start filling holes and fixing dents tomorrow.

Do you have a ignition key for it?
If not, do you have a new cylinder w/key for it?
I have one with key if you don't.

One of the body mounts are missing, hope it didn't fall out in route but I know it's not here. (was hoping you found it in your garage)

Any chance I can bring the motor/tranny back down to you?
Storing it on the floor of the shop is gonna chew up alot of space, unless being in cold storage is okay with you, that I can do.
Covered and enclosed but not heated.

Hey Kurt.
I don't have the body mount here... that really sucks. I even cleaned and swept the garage. Don't have a lock and cyl, that I am aware of. I do have three really large boxes of crap in the attic though. If it's new, Todd may want it. I do want all the locks on one key

I'd like to see pics of progress, knocked out dents, filled holes, rot chopped out :p

This is supposed to showcase your talents and document the build up.

Why does the motor and trans need to come out of the chassis?

Friday - 11/30/07 progress.
Aux gas tank holes patched, inside/outside of quarter and bed floor.
The floor area will need to be blasted some.

Next week's focus will be finishing the remainder of the unwanted holes in the tub, start sand blasting on the smaller areas and brace up the door openings.

The ones the look like this and mount to the inside of the quarter. _/-\_

Just posting for Posterity... My brother occasionally checks in on the thread.

Correct, there will be no inside panels, it's going to get rhino lined.

I'll grab the brackets that were removed and sell 'em off.

Trim around the tail lights is probably staying as it would look weird, incomplete.

No huge changes in the way it 'looks' this week but finishing up all those holes is good to have done.

Both lower/rear quarters are now straight and back where they should be.
Had to mount up the frame machine so we had a good way to pull em out.
Nothing that 30K lbs worth of pulling force couldn't handle.

Couple before and after pics of the quarters.
Rust repair is next.

Oooo, stud welder. Thats the next tool I'm buying. Got a couple of creases on the pickup and the Blazer that need it. Is the frame puller like a porta-power? That would be handy too. Looking good! Keep the pics coming!

Day Of Demo

Pulled off both outter rockers.
Cut out both inner rockers.

Drivers side outter was obvious, pass side not so much but once it was off it was easy to see that the rust through was already starting.
Drivers side inner had surface rust and was bent, pass side had rust holes.

The dark section's that can be seen is PB Blaster, it wouldn't touch the rust so out came the torch.
All 12 bolts came out intact.

Drivers side lower 'A' pillar is way gone.
Pass side is still intact.

Drivers side torsion box has a pretty good 'McNasty' on the bottom that was cut out for a dual tank switching valve once upon a time.

Pic showing the pile of parts removed.

Drivers torsion box had a large mouse house in it and the lower 'B' pillar was full of Cali sand, thankfully it's still solid enough to stay and be used.

Ordered two new inner rocker panels today along with the lower A pillar patch.

Torsion box welded up.
Managed to do it all from above but the torsion rod was a pita to work around, reason for the less than perfectly straight weld rows.

Drivers 'A' pillar removed and ready for patch piece.
Broke loose the spot welds on the passengers lower pillar to be ready for inner rocker to be installed.

Passengers side front cab mount has rust through.
