I am sure you've probably already thought of this, but I know the military Gama Goats had Detroit 3-53's with a 4 speed tranny. I have heard these are GM issue (SM465 I'd guess?), so that may be an avenue to look into.

I been told about alot of Detroit Conversions, but the only ones I seen for sale were on ebay, weren't road worthy, and too far from me for me to think about seriously. I have to get this Cummins truck finished before I do another swap.
