Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Does the column have to be from a truck? I have 2 columns I would like to do this on. One is from an 80's Buick or Olds with the key in the column and the big bulge and bulky looking cruise lever on it. The other is from an earlier Buick. It also has the key in the column, but it has the older style column look and the cruise lever just has a button on the end (I guess to turn it on) and I think it only has one wire coming from it.
My engine and harness is from a 2004 Tahoe (flex-fuel) with 4L60E trans. I would really like to use the older style column, but I want the cruise functions of the newer column. Would one of your levers work for me in this column? I hope this made sense. |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Thanks for fast reply. The newer column doesn't have the wiper controls. I need to look at it closer and see if it has all the cruise functions and how many wires it has. I know the older column only says Cruise with 1 button at the end.
The older column is the one I would like to use. I will check them and get back to you. |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
I have a HND-3 from Dakota Digitial.
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...prod/prd50.htm How will it work with a 2006 DBW? I installed the handle on a Flaming River tilt column and it was a PITA to get the wires pulled through....

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Not that I know of.. It would only take the first two relays, the 3rd is one I added for the DD gauges..
Any type of relay would work.. you would not have to use the micro ones I used. You could use regular Bosch type relays...

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Did anyone get around to answering this? 2008 5.3 LH6 4L60e Gen 4.. I don't want to use the stalk.. I was going to make a remote panel for controlling the cruise control, with some Momentary closed pushers. Anyone with a GEN4 do this yet? or did you use the stalk? Either or I need cruise.. I have a 5000km trip coming up in a couple months and lets face it.. Cruise is god on that long of a trip! Thanks in advance guys!

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
I have a 06 5.3 4l60e DBW going in to a 85 c10. My harness was done by speartech. I'm confident that I have the wiring correct. But wanted to double check.
Harness from truck that had factory cruise ( 4 wire). Grey Blue Pink Green Wires coming from harness Grey- cruise on/off Grey/black- cruise resume/accel Blue- cruise cntrl set/coast Lt blue- cruise cntrl normally open brake switch Truck/ TAC module Grey to grey Blue to blue Pink - ingnition, leave alone. Verified 12v Green to grey/black This seems correct to me, other than wiring up for the brake switch. Can someone verify this for me? Also, I'm running dakota digital vhx gauges. It requires a ground signal to activate the cruise indicator light. Can I tap off the blue wire cruise set/coast for a ground signal? |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Your wiring seems to be correct. But as for the ground to activate the cruise on indicator, I don't think it will work by tapping directly into that wire since it isn't a ground, it is a momentary 12v. I would think you may be able to use it to run a relay to reverse the power to a ground, but you will have to double check to make sure.

If I tap in to the set cruise cntrl wire, then run that through a relay for a ground signal, would that provide a constant ground signal to the light indicator even though it's a momentary switch? I think of it this way. In my newer truck, I always leave the cruise switch in the "on" position. Then when I press ( set cruise) I get the indicator light. Not sure how it's all tied in. |
