Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

I'll PM the guy that did the 67-72 one and see if he can restore the header for your use....I think what happen was everybody had access to the index and someone accidently deleted it

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

Well...he's busy as a one armed paper clip....said it could take him a couple days to see what happen and try to restore....it may need an effort by a few of us over there to try and get the header back....bare with us for a couple weeks....hopefully we'll get something back....ADVICE: you may want to limit the number of folks who has editing rights to your index so this doesn't happen to you

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

I found this comment regarding the headings in the original thread for their manual.

"Originally it had each year, 2wd or 4wd, blazer, burb, pickup, 1/2ton, 3/4ton, etc."

It sounds like we just need to come up with our own headings that pertain directly to our trucks anyway.

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

I was bored at lunch, and started playing with Google Docs. Here is what I came up with so far.

Any additions or modifications to the chart you all want to add, let me know, and I can fix it up, then we can get down to getting this all filled out!

I started filling it in, just as an example.

Hopefully this works!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...TEyT3ZVNVpWVGc

I did notice that my manual has years handwritten (then photocopied) at the beginning of each section. It shows 1960 on page #21, but the RPO section starts back on page #15. So it looks like there is SOME organization to this thing. 1961 - 1965 all have writing also. 1966 is there, but is not written in the book.

No problem! We all have that problem once in a while! LOL

If and when you figure out the columns, please let us know, so we can see if we should add to ours.

Thanks!!

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

Guilt as charged!! I'll let you know when we get it worked out....now on with your indexing...I'm sure as you guys plug along here, it'll be obvious what columns will be helpful....especially if you want to make it searchable Good luck!

Does anyone want any modifications to the chart? Are the columns ok? Any additional ones?

looks like a great start to me, we can always edit/add columns if necessary, correct?

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

Yep, it is easily modified. I can share out editor capabilities to a few people, then we hopefully wont run into the problem the 67-72 guys had with losing the headers.

I think I just need a gmail address to add editors. I'll check and see.

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

Has anyone else verified the page count?

It is pretty easy, and is going pretty quick. I have entered in pages 1-70, and have handwritten out up to page 141.

No problem!

If I could find a point where I had plenty of time, and plenty of money, I could get to jamming on my truck, but since it seems to swing towards having plenty of time, and no money, this is keeping me busy. LOL

factory assembly manual index project 60-66

I see that this thread has been dormant since 06-22-2012. Does anyone know if the index was created? I can't find if it has. If it is stalled, and the folks that got it going want to revive the index project, I will do the 64 section.

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

I kept plugging away at it for a while. I think I am up to the '64 section... but it has been a while.

It should still be visible on the Google Documents link. I'll go look at it and make sure.

Update:
It is still active on that link. I made it to page 247 ('61). If you have a gmail address, PM it to me, and I can open it up for you to do the '64 section LJackson.

Re: disappointed with factory assembly manual

If anyone wants to do a section, I can send them a link to the editable file on Google Docs. Pretty easy to use if you are familiar with Excel.

Not trying to control it, just trying to make sure it doesn't get tweaked beyond repair.

As stated earlier, if anyone wants any changes, let me know. CRGRS 66 has full access to the file as well.

I have unfortunately been far too busy to devote any energy whatsoever to the index, my apologies... My thanks to you chevyman for your efforts on this.

No worries CRGRS. Things have gotten crazy for me too, so I haven't done much on it in a while either!
