No its actually all metal and welded. I started off and had to modify the core support so the cover would fit flat in a few area's

then had the right diameter pipe and cut it in half lengthwise and to the length it needed to be for the curved areas. then measured the sheet metal to be cut to fit and traced it after laying it in there to be cut perfect to the shape of the grille. also took and modified the radiator hold downs by flattening the top of them, welded the radiator hold down brackets to a piece of sheet metal I cut for the top. and worked my way to a piece that covers the radiator. also welded bolts to the bottom side of the radiator core support cover in a few different places to give it a nice snug fit. the other place I have to add is holes where my hood bumppers go in each corner. it has a thin layer of body filler just to keep it smoothed out.

Hey waylon Thanks. Yeah I think they look great and I was even thinking on fabricating up a few to sale. If I do decide to I will let you all know.

Hey Slick Thanks, Glad I started it too its been fun. well you have inspired me also on your truck lol Thanks sure will keep showing progress any how.

I am hoping to have the truck finished this summer. I know it looks like alot of work but actually there is not to much more to have it done with custom body work and all.

ok I started the last bit of touch ups to under the hood and on the doors I also happened to have found some body filler that the PO filled up some holes with out welding them first, so I went ahead and welded them closed and cleaned up. just the next step to the body work is sanding and primer. but here is some pictures of my progress.

here are the pictures of the firewall. I filled some holes with sheetmetal and using the body filler just to smooth it out to a smooth finish.

Today I also went to the local wrecking yard and scored on a cheap air tank I will use for my air ride system. Picked it up for $10. I thought that wasnt so bad lol. I will clean it up and paint it plus remove all the fittings and reseal them the way I believe they should be fit for my setup. Also make the brackets to fit to frame mount it.

Hey guys know i know i been slacking on posting here lol. I had a bit of a problem with my welder breaking down. That will be fixed by next weekend.

ok here is what Came along today, I got visited by the brown box guy I finely took the plunge and found some 3/4 Length headers after doing some searching for low priced but Decent headers I could not find none in my price range so I purchased a Set off Ebay, I know some think this would have been a bad idea. I heard about the Ebay Headers not fitting or being cheap quality with the product or the finish. I choose to go a head and get some headers that I would end up putting a Finish on them my self. I have done it in the past and It holds up 100% so I will attempt it again. I also Sent this guy quit a few Emails asking questions about his headers before purchasing and he was instantly responding each time. These Headers have 3" collector, 1 5/8" primaries and 3/8" Flanges.

In these two pictures I have come to find out like reading from others I will have to modify the frame just a slight bit. not a big deal to me that will be a piece of cake and take only a matter of minutes to do.

well I had a great day today. I put on the headers the motor and got everything wired up correctly. fired up the truck for a few seconds just to hear it purrrrr... and make sure everything was working correctly wow what a sound that was.

Awesome bro! Those headers fit really well and that firewall is lookin good too. The trimming on the frame wasn't bad at all, it wouldn't have worried me either. Keep those pics comin!

Hey Thanks Slick, I am very happy with the fitment of the headers and Firewall was a long process but I am loving it and got some more things I am going to do to make it look even better later down the road. Hope your Motor comes soon bro. cant wait to see you back where you belong on that project.

ok here is some updated pictures of some progress. I have not worked to much on the Shaving of drip rails due to my welder broke at one point and now darn it im out of wire haha go figure. it would be easier for me if I lived closer to where there was stores to purchase the products I need but im in the boonies haha. any how I been working on cleaning up the bed and the progress of my fuel tank
OH and yes its got some dust and dirt on it haha. poor thing.

I know its kind of hard to tell due to the lighting but the paint is totally stripped off in this next picture other then a few spots.


Here I have Modified the Bed Cross Sill so I was able to get my Filler tube up to the Bed. I Made a Filler tube. I really didnt want to do it this way but in these beds there really is not much room where I could have routed the tube. In the past I have had problems with this same thing so my best bet was just to have it straight up for now..I guess i can always change it later but for now here it is. thats the beauty of known how to modify things lol

Thanks Slick, I try to be creative on mostly everything I work on. Just takes me longer to do this I think because I dont like to stay on one thing to long or I get burnt out lol.

Did some more work on the inside of the bed and got most of the panels paint stripped. also worked on some of the outside of the bed to do some body work and I found a problem on the rear of the passenger side that I am going to have to figure out how to fix it..

I went ahead and took a level to see how straight the bed panels are down the side and everything was good till I got to the back part of the passenger and driver side. I knew there was some body work done by the PO when he tried to weld up the rear marker lights and warped the sheet metal

well on the passenger side you will notice in the pictures. everything is flat and looks good till I get to the rear and the tail light area is pushed in and I do not see any place it could be that bad or out of alignment. driver side is in good shape so why is the passenger side about an inch off. especially with the tailgate and rear support still intact from the way it was originally. well I guess this means taking it all apart and re-aligning it. Just seems odd how it looks fine in the rear. an inch is alot

wow! that's a lot of holes! why not use a stud puller? btw - awesome rat rods in the background of your shop! looks awesome! Love all of your ideas and to have the skills to pull it off is sweet! Keep up the great work!

Hey French Yeah It is coming along and alot easier now that its closer. welding up the holes is the easy part for me lol just takes time. Thanks

Hey Jason Yeah it sure is alot of holes. I agree I would have loved to use a stud puller but it happened to take a crap on me and didnt have the money to go get another one at this time so its time to do it the old way..

Finely got my Air Bags today so I am going to be working on that very soon. They are one thing closer to getting this project rolling

Today I didnt take any pictures but will tomorrow. I was in a hurry to get things going on my front air bags and I got the passenger top mounting plate made and installed along with the bottom cup. Everything works wonderful and cant wait to get the rest of the system installed.
